Young Communists (Italy)
The Young Communists ( Italian: ''Giovani Comuniste e Comunisti'') is the youth organization of the Communist Refoundation Party (Italian: ''Partito della Rifondazione Comunista'') and had more than 20,000 members. Although the party was founded in 1991 (following the dissolution of the Italian Communist Party, and its youth section, the FGCI), the young members of the party did not have a stable organization until the middle of 1994, when Marco Rizzo created the Giovani Comunisti. The first National Assembly took place in Chianciano in February 1996. In December 1997 the first National Convention of the GC took place. On this occasion two documents were presented. The party majority won with its own document gaining 67.8% of the vote. From the 4th to 7 July 2002 the second National Convention took place in Marina di Massa. Communism (from Latin la, communis, lit=common, universal, label=none) is a far-left sociopolitical, philosophical, and economic ideology and current within the socialist movement whose goal is the establishment of a communist society, a socioeconomic order centered around common ownership of the means of production, distribution, and exchange which allocates products to everyone in the society.: "One widespread distinction was that socialism socialised production only while communism socialised production and consumption." Communist Refoundation Party
The Communist Refoundation Party ( it, Partito della Rifondazione Comunista, PRC) is a communist political party in Italy that emerged from a split of the Italian Communist Party (PCI) in 1991. The party's secretary is Maurizio Acerbo, who replaced Paolo Ferrero in 2017. Armando Cossutta was the party's founder, while Fausto Bertinotti its longest-serving leader (1994–2008). The latter transformed the PRC from a traditional communist party into a collection of radical social movements. The PRC is a member of the Party of the European Left (PEL), of which Bertinotti was the inaugural president in 2004. World Federation Of Democratic Youth
The World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) is an international youth organization, and has historically characterized itself as left-wing and anti-imperialist. WFDY was founded in London in 1945 as a broad international youth movement, organized in the context of the end of World War II with the aim of uniting youth from the Allies behind an anti-fascist platform that was broadly pro-peace, anti-nuclear war, expressing friendship between youth of the capitalist and socialist nations. The WFDY Headquarters are in Budapest, Hungary. The main event of WFDY is the World Festival of Youth and Students. The last festival was held in Sochi, Russia, in October 2017. Italian Communist Party
The Italian Communist Party ( it, Partito Comunista Italiano, PCI) was a communist political party in Italy. The PCI was founded as ''Communist Party of Italy'' on 21 January 1921 in Livorno by seceding from the Italian Socialist Party (PSI). Amadeo Bordiga, Antonio Gramsci, and Nicola Bombacci led the split. Outlawed during the Fascist regime, the party played a major role in the Italian resistance movement. It changed its name in 1943 to PCI and became the second largest political party of Italy after World War II, attracting the support of about a third of the vote share during the 1970s. At the time, it was the largest communist party in the West, with peak support reaching 2.3 million members, in 1947, and peak share being 34.4% of the vote (12.6 million votes) in the 1976 general election. Italian Communist Youth Federation
The Italian Communist Youth Federation ( it, Federazione Giovanile Comunista Italiana, FGCI) was the youth wing of the Italian Communist Party (''Partito Comunista Italiano''; PCI), and the direct heir of the Federazione Giovanile Comunista d'Italia of the PCd'I. In 2016 it was refounded under the same name as the youth wing of the new Italian Communist Party. History Constituted in 1949, its peak was in the 1960s, when its membership reached 200,000 and it thus sought to gain a profile independent of its parent organisation. Marco Rizzo
Marco Rizzo (born 12 October 1959 in Turin) is an Italian politician, leader of the Communist Party (PC) and in 2022 with Sovereign and Popular Italy. Biography A graduate in political science in 1985, he was a lecturer in vocational guidance (1985–1994). From 1986 to 1991, he was a member of the Turin Province party executive of the Italian Communist Party (PCI), and joined the Communist Refoundation Party (PRC) in 1991, serving as its representative to the Council of the Turin Province until 1995. Between 1994 and 2004, he served in the Chamber of Deputies of Italy. In 1995–1998, he was coordinator of the National Secretariat of the PRC, then left to become a founding member and Italian Parliament group-leader of the Party of Italian Communists (until 2004). Chianciano Terme is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Siena in the Italian region Tuscany, located about southeast of Florence and about southeast of Siena. Massa (; ) is a town and ''comune'' in Tuscany, central Italy, the administrative centre of the province of Massa and Carrara. The Youth Federation of Italian Communists ( it, Federazione Giovanile Comunisti Italiani, or FGCI) was the youth wing of the Party of Italian Communists (PdCI). Internationally, it is part of the World Federation of Democratic Youth.
