The Young Christian Democrats ( sv, Kristdemokratiska ungdomsförbundet, ''KDU'') is the youth organization of the Christian Democrats in Sweden. KDU was founded at a conference in Sundsvall 1966. Initially the name of the organization was Christian Democratic Youth (''Kristen Demokratisk Ungdom'') but were later changed. Alf Svensson (politician)
Alf Robert Olof Svensson (born 1 October 1938) is a Swedish politician. He was a Member of the European Parliament from 2009 to 2014. Svensson was the leader of the Christian Democrats in Sweden between 1973 and 3 April 2004. He was a Member of Parliament from 1985 to 1988, and again from 1991 until his election to the European Parliament in 2009. Between 1991 and 1994 he was Minister for Development Cooperation in the liberal-conservative Cabinet led by Prime Minister Carl Bildt. Charlie Weimers
Charlie Andreas Weimers (born 12 November 1982) is Swedish politician and Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from Sweden since 2019. He is a member of the Sweden Democrats, part of European Conservatives and Reformists. Career Weimers was chairman of the Swedish Young Christian Democrats (Kristdemokratiska Ungdomsförbundet - KDU) 2008–2011. He was elected Vice President of the Youth of the European People's Party at the 6th YEPP Congress in Stockholm in May 2007. Weimers was born in Karlstad, and currently lives in Hammarö. He joined the Christian Democrats and the Young Christian Democrats in 1998. He served as the district chairman of KDU-Värmland from 2000 to 2001 and again from 2003 to 2004. Ella Elin Nikolina Bohlin (born 1979) is a Christian Democratic politician in Sweden. Early life and education Bohlin was born in Jönköping. She has a B.A. in political science and has worked as a spinning instructor. Political career Bohlin was the leader of the Christian Democratic Youth League of Sweden between 2005 and 2008. She was her party's top candidate in the 2009 elections to the European Parliament, but was not elected because Alf Svensson, the former party leader, received more individual votes and took the party's single seat.
