You Xigui
You Xigui (; born May 1939) is a retired general in the People's Liberation Army of China. He was an alternate member of the 15th and 16th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party. Biography You was born in Ding County (now Dingzhou), Hebei, in May 1939. He served in the Central Guard Regiment from January 1958 to July 1983. In July 1983, he was assigned to the Central Guard Bureau of the General Office of the Chinese Communist Party, where he was promoted to deputy director in July 1985 and to director in August 1994. The People's Liberation Army (PLA) is the principal military force of the People's Republic of China and the armed wing of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Lieutenant general (Lt Gen, LTG and similar) is a three-star military rank (NATO code OF-8) used in many countries. The rank traces its origins to the Middle Ages, where the title of lieutenant general was held by the second-in-command on the battlefield, who was normally subordinate to a captain general. In modern armies, lieutenant general normally ranks immediately below general and above major general; it is equivalent to the navy rank of vice admiral, and in air forces with a separate rank structure, it is equivalent to air marshal.
