''You Can Make Sound'' is the second studio album by Delorentos released on 9 October 2009. It reached #2 in the Irish Singles Chart and subsequently won the Entertainment.ie album of the Year 2009. The album was released in territories in Europe in March 2010. Album information Composed in 6 months at the end of 2008, the album was recorded after singer and guitarist Ronan Yourell had decided to quit the band. The album was originally meant to be a mini album or EP. During the recording process the band decided not to split up, and wrote a final track together, "I Remember", to complete the track list. The album was again recorded with Gareth Mannix in Sun studios, in two weeks between March and April 2009. In May, to support the release and tour, the title track "You Can Make Sound" was released as a free download. The next release was the single "Secret" in October 2009. Delorentos are a Dublin-based Irish alternative rock band, formed in 2005. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. It reached #7 in the Irish Singles Chart and was subsequently nominated for the Choice Music Prize for Irish Album of the Year 2007. Album information Composed in between relentless touring in 2006, the album blends heavy rock ("Waiting" + "Until the next time"), alternative rock ("Basis of Everything", "Any Other Way") with more mainstream pop-indie ("Do You Realise", "Stop"). Written, played, and co-produced (with Engineer Gareth Mannix) by Níal, Ross, Ronan and Kier, the self-funded record was released on their own DeloRecords, and distributed by their managers label, Cottage Records. The Irish Singles Chart is the Republic of Ireland's music industry standard singles popularity chart issued weekly by the Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA) and compiled on their behalf by the Official Charts Company. Chart rankings are based on sales, which are compiled through over-the-counter retail data captured electronically each day from retailers' EPOS systems. All major record shops, digital retailers and streaming services contribute to the chart, accounting for over 95% of the market. Gareth Mannix (born 27 August 1977) is an Irish record producer. He has worked on platinum albums by Jerry Fish and the Mudbug Club, Damien Dempsey, Jack L and Juliet Turner. For six years consecutively a number of acts who have worked with Mannix have won Meteor Music Awards. His live recording credits include The Divine Comedy (band), Whipping Boy, the Beta Band and Elbow.
