Apoptygma Berzerk (; commonly abbreviated to APB or APOP) is a Norwegian musical group. They have achieved success with a brand of synth-pop, and ballads backed with electronic rhythms, commonly known within the scene and referring to themselves as "futurepop". Apoptygma Berzerk has over 30 releases and won awards and Top 10 spots in Germany and Scandinavia. Apoptygma Berzerk has toured Europe, North America, South America, Israel and Australia with bands such as VNV Nation, Beborn Beton, Icon of Coil and Unheilig. Formation The band was formed by Stephan Groth and Jon Erik Martinsen in 1989. One of the songs they wrote together, "Ashes To Ashes" would later be released as a 12-inch single on the Norwegian label Tatra Productions in 1991. Martinsen left the band due to creative differences. Anneli Drecker
Anneli Marian Drecker (born 12 February 1969, in Tromsø, Norway) is a Norwegian singer and actress from the city of Tromsø. She is the frontwoman for the dream pop band Bel Canto. Life and career Drecker's father Peter, a German from Bielefeld, emigrated in 1960 to Norway. In the fall of 2006 Bel Canto celebrated the twentieth anniversary of the first album with several concerts. She has released three solo albums, and has provided vocals for various artists including Motorpsycho, Jan Bang, Savoy, a-ha, Röyksopp, Jah Wobble, Ketil Bjørnstad, Simon Raymonde, Mental Overdrive, Illumination and Hector Zazou. Drecker contributed as composer and singer in a production of Pär Lagerkvist's ''Bøddelen'' at Det Norske Teatret (2000), and has worked as a freelance actress and composer at Hålogaland Teater from 2009 to 2015. Mesh (band)
Mesh are a British electronic alternative band from Bristol, England. They have achieved chart success and recognition in Europe. Biography Mesh formed in 1991 after lead singer Mark Hockings and Richard Silverthorn (keyboards) met each other at a concert where Richard Silverthorn's band was playing. Soon afterwards, Neil Taylor, Silverthorn's former bandmate, joined the band on keyboards. The creative writing was split between Richard Silverthorn, who composes the music, and Mark Hockings, who writes the lyrics. Mesh were signed by the Swedish label Memento Materia and an EP, ''Fragile'', was released in 1994. This was followed by a full album, ''In This Place Forever'', in 1996, and 1997 the band released an extended version of ''Fragile''. M'era Luna Festival
The M'era Luna is a rock festival that encompasses a number of different styles such as metal, future pop, aggrotech, synthpop, gothic rock, dark wave, and ebm. It is held annually on the second weekend of every August, in Hildesheim, Germany at Flugplatz Hildesheim-Drispenstedt, a former British Army airbase. The M'era Luna includes camping facilities and has two stages: a large rock festival style structure, erected for the show each year, and a former aircraft hangar. With its 20,000–25,000 regular attendants (21,000 in 2005, 23,000 in 2009, 24,000 in 2010) (many flying in via the Hanover airport, with others traveling via road and railway), the M'era Luna is one of the biggest dark music events in Germany. Vilde Lockert (born April 28, 1970), is a musician and currently vocalist and lyrics-writer for Magenta. She has done guest vocals for Apoptygma Berzerk, Arcturus, Fleurety as well as being vocalist in Vandalist Virgin and Femme Brutale. Personal life Vilde Lockert was born in Tromsø, but moved all over Norway due to her father's military career. She had a modeling career in the UK and Spain in the early 90s until she moved to Oslo in 1995 and joined Magenta. The House Of Love
The House of Love are an English alternative rock band, formed in London in 1986 by singer-songwriter-guitarist Guy Chadwick and co-founder and lead guitarist Terry Bickers. They rose to prominence in 1987 with their first single " Shine On", released on the independent label Creation. The following year, the band released their critically acclaimed eponymous debut album and built their reputation over the next few years through subsequent releases, constant touring and the support of English press. "Shine On" is a single by the House of Love, written by Guy Chadwick. It was originally released in 1987, when the band was on Creation Records, but failed to reach the UK top 100. The band's subsequent singles peaked outside of the top 40 until, in early 1990, "Shine On" was re-recorded, produced by Tim Palmer and re-released. This time the song peaked at #20 in the UK, #24 in Ireland, and #171 in Australia. Their follow-up single, "Beatles and the Stones", was their final single to reach the UK top 40. The song is used for the skateboarder Corey Duffel's part in the Osiris Shoes video "Feed The Need" and in ''Trigger Happy TV'' series 1. In 2006, the song was covered by Apoptygma Berzerk and Stephan Groth. Mortiis
Mortiis is an electronic band from Notodden, Norway fronted by Håvard Ellefsen, who is also known as the namesake of the band. The name is a misspelling of the word "mortis", which is the pronunciation used by the band. Mortiis started as the solo project of Ellefsen as a means to convey a story. This aspect was lost over time and Mortiis slowly formed into a band. Ellefsen previously played bass in the black metal band Emperor (1991–1992), prior to forming this project in 1993. The time he spent in his previous band laid the groundworks for mixing black metal elements with various electronic genres, with these being touched upon across each "era" of the band. Cambodia (song)
"Cambodia" is the fourth single by British singer Kim Wilde. It was released at the end of 1981; a year in which Wilde had already scored three highly successful hit singles and a best-selling debut album. The single was another international success, topping the charts in France, Sweden and Switzerland and hitting the top ten in several other nations. It was released on the 7" format but also as a 12" single in West Germany, although not in a remixed or extended version. The B-side of both releases was an exclusive non-album track called "Watching for Shapes". "Cambodia" was later included on Wilde's second album, '' Select'', which was released six months after the single in May 1982.
