History Yorktown Memorial Hospital opened in 1951, at a cost of approximately $500,000. It was operated by the Felician Sisters, an order of Catholic nuns. The hospital had administration offices, and two two-story wings containing hospital rooms, a chapel, and a basement. The hospital closed in 1986, and then reopened as a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center, which closed in the 1990s. A private owner purchased the property, and offered tours. Yorktown is a city in DeWitt County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,810 at the 2020 census. Geography Yorktown is located in southwestern DeWitt County at (28.983196, –97.502415). State Highways 72 and 119 intersect on the western side of town. Highway 72 leads northeast to Cuero and southwest to Kenedy, while Highway 119 leads northwest to Stockdale and south to Goliad.
