The Yorke Peninsula Council is a local government area in South Australia. Its boundaries include most of the Yorke Peninsula. The council seat is at Maitland; the council also maintains branch offices at Minlaton and Yorketown. History It came into existence on 10 February 1997 as a result of the amalgamation of the District Council of Central Yorke Peninsula, the District Council of Minlaton, the District Council of Warooka and the District Council of Yorketown. It was named as the District Council of Yorke Peninsula at its inception, but was renamed to Yorke Peninsula Council in 2013. Chinaman Wells, South Australia
__NOTOC__ Chinaman Wells is a locality in the Australian state of South Australia located on the west coast of Yorke Peninsula immediately adjoining Spencer Gulf about north-west of the state capital of Adelaide city centre, Adelaide. Its boundaries were created in May 1999 for the “long established name” which was originally used for a shack, shack site now within the locality. The locality also includes the Holywood Shack Area. As of 2016, the majority land use within the locality is conservation (ethic), conservation zoned in respect to close proximity to the coastline with Spencer Gulf. A secondary use is a strip of land overlooking the coastline which is zoned for residential area, residential use. Bluff Beach, South Australia
__NOTOC__ Bluff Beach is a locality in the Australian state of South Australia located on the west coast of Yorke Peninsula overlooking Hardwicke Bay about west of the state capital of Adelaide. Its boundaries were created in May 1999 for the “long established name” and includes the former Bluff Beach Shack Site from which the locality’s name was derived. As of 2015, the majority land use within the locality is agriculture. A secondary land use is conservation which concerns the strip of land immediately adjoining the coastline. A third use of land is residential use along the coastline at the site of the former shack site. The 2016 Australian census which was conducted in August 2016 reports that Bluff Beach had a population of 31 people. Black Point, South Australia

Black Point consists of an area of land bounded to the west by the St Vincent Highway and to the east by Gulf St Vincent where the coastline forms a bay gazetted as Port Alfred which faces to the north-east and concludes in the headland gazetted both as Black Point and the Narungga word, Gudliwardi. Its boundaries were created in May 1999 for the “long established name” and includes the Black Point Shack Site. Minlaton, South Australia
Minlaton is a town in central Yorke Peninsula, South Australia. At the 2016 census, Minlaton had a population of 800. It is known as the "Barley capital of the world", due to the rich Barley production in the region. Minlaton was the hometown of Harry Butler, a World War I flying ace. His Bristol M1C monoplane has been restored and is preserved in pride of place in a building the centre of the town. When he flew an air mail run from Adelaide across Gulf St Vincent to Minlaton in 1919, it was the first over-water flight in the Southern Hemisphere. Ardrossan, South Australia
