York High School is a mixed secondary school in York, North Yorkshire, England. It has a comprehensive admissions policy, and in 2016 had an enrolment of 757 pupils ages 11–16. History York High School was established through the 2007 merger of Oaklands School and Lowfield School. The new school initially operated on the site of Lowfield School, expanded with temporary buildings, while a new school was constructed on the site of Oaklands School. The name of the school was chosen after a vote by pupils at the schools and the local community. York High School has achieved positive Ofsted reports, and currently has a 'good' rating. Between 5–6 a.m. on the morning of Friday 3 October 2008, a third of the school buildings on the Dijon Avenue site were burnt down in a fire. York High School is a co-educational English Medium High School (Grade 8 to 12) for boarders and dayscholars in George, Western Cape, South Africa. For many years the Southern Cape was served by dual-medium schools in George, Mossel Bay, Oudtshoorn and Knysna. There was a growing feeling that a purely English-medium school should be built and the Department of Education eventually agreed to this. Pioneers in the early days were Bob Cawood (Chairman of the Interim Committee) and Kenneth Smith (First School Committee Chairman). Active support came from the then Member of Parliament for George, Mr P W Botha, and in 1975 the York High School was built and one of the Outeniqua High School Hostels - the GJB Volschenk - was taken over by the new school. The school was started with classes from Std VI to VIII and the first Matrics wrote their final examinations in November 1977. York High School is a public secondary school in York, Maine, United States. Athletics York High School has an athletic program with four coed sports, 11 female sports, and 10 male sports. The coed sports teams include golf, skiing, unified basketball and wrestling. The female sports include basketball, cross country, field hockey, ice hockey, indoor and outdoor track and field, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball. The male sports are baseball, basketball, cross country, football, ice hockey, indoor and outdoor track and field, lacrosse, soccer, and tennis. The golf team, girls' basketball, indoor track and soccer teams won the state championships in 2010. York Comprehensive High School is the sole high school in York County School District 1. Dr. John Tharpe serves as principal. The school is located in York, South Carolina. Due to growth and aging of the original building, a new high school was built. The new high school is on Alexander Love Highway. The new campus will accommodate grades 9–12.
