Paul Kevin Masterson is a Northern Irish DJ and record producer, originally from Belfast and now living in London. He is best known for recording as Yomanda. He is also part of the dance music duo Hi-Gate, along with BBC Radio 1 DJ Judge Jules. Biography Recording as Amen! UK, he had a hi-NRG hit with "Passion", released by Deconstruction Records in 1995. ''Billboard'' magazine described it as being "underlined by an intangible but apparent reverence for hi-NRG architects, such as the late Patrick Cowley", praising the track's "crazy-catchy chorus" while slightly criticizing the lack of "meaty" lyrics otherwise. Hi-Gate
Hi-Gate is the dance music pairing of BBC Radio 1 DJ Judge Jules, and Paul Masterson. History In 1998, Masterson sent Jules a copy of a track he had just finished, which would later become known as 'Yomanda – "Synth and Strings"'. Jules noted that the phone number on the track had the same area code on it as that of Jules, the Highgate area of London. Jules suggested removing the vocals on the track, and with the assistance of him playing the track on his BBC Radio 1 show, "Pitchin' (In Every Direction)" was elevated to the top 10 of the UK Singles Chart. Following this, they co-produced "I Can Hear Voices" / "Caned and Unable" (2000). The songs saw them appearing on ''Top of the Pops''. "I Can Hear Voices" included the vocals of Jina. Julius O'Riordan (born 1966), better known by his stage name Judge Jules, is a British dance music DJ, record producer and entertainment lawyer. He is known for his DJ activities, music production and long-running radio show which achieved global success. He was voted best DJ in the world by ''DJ Mag'' in 1995. Patrick Joseph Cowley (October 19, 1950 – November 12, 1982) was an American disco and hi-NRG dance music composer and recording artist. Along with Giorgio Moroder, he often is credited as a pioneer of electronic dance music. Early life Patrick Cowley was born October 19, 1950 in Buffalo, New York to Ellen and Kenneth Cowley. The family originated in the Horseheads and Corning areas of New York and lived in Rochester. During his teenage years, Cowley became a successful drummer with local amateur bands before attending Niagara University and later the University at Buffalo to study English.
