Yolaine Yengo
Yolaine Yengo (born 24 April 1993) is a French rugby union and sevens player. She plays for the University of Rennes and for Stade Rennais Rugby. Rugby career Yengo competed for the New Caledonian sevens team at the 2015 Pacific Games. She was selected as a member of the France women's national rugby sevens team at the 2021 Dubai Women's Sevens. She won a bronze medal at the 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens. 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens – Women's Tournament
The women's tournament for the 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens was held in Cape Town, South Africa from September 9 to 11 at the Cape Town Stadium. Teams The four semi-finalists from the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens were automatic qualifiers, with South Africa also qualifying as host. Rugby Sevens At The 2024 Summer Olympics – Women's Tournament
The rugby sevens tournaments at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris are scheduled to run from 24 to 30 July at Stade de France. Twenty-four teams (twelve each for men and women) will compete against each other in their respective tournaments. For the first time, the rugby sevens matches will commence two days before the opening ceremony with the men's preliminary and quarterfinal stages. The competition takes a break for the opening ceremony on 26 July before the medal-winning teams are officially unveiled a day later. The women's tournament will be held between 28 and 30 July, culminating with the gold and bronze medal matches. Qualification The International Olympic Committee and the World Rugby (WR) have ratified and released the qualification criteria for Paris 2024. The host nation France reserves a direct quota place each in the men's and women's tournament with the remainder of the total quota attributed to the eligible NOCs across three qualifying routes. 2021 Dubai Women's Sevens
The 2021 Dubai Women's Sevens was held as two rugby sevens tournaments on consecutive weekends in late November and early December that year. They were played as the tenth international season of the Dubai Women's Sevens, following the cancellation of the 2020 tournament due to impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournaments were the opening events of the 2021–22 World Rugby Women's Sevens Series. Due to ongoing impacts of the pandemic, the first event was played behind closed doors on 26–27 November 2021 with no spectators allowed, but the second event was played in front of full crowds on 3–4 December at The Sevens stadium in Dubai. Two pitches were used in Dubai, which allowed matches in overlapping time slots to be played. As only ten women's teams instead of the usual twelve competed in both tournaments, a format based on two pools with five teams in each was used. Rugby World Cup Sevens (RWCS) is the quadrennial world championship of rugby sevens, a variant of rugby union. Organised by World Rugby, it currently consists of men's and women's tournaments, and is the highest level of competition in the sport outside of the Summer Olympics. The first tournament was held in 1993 in Scotland, and was won by England. The winners of the men's tournament are awarded the Melrose Cup, named after the Scottish town of Melrose where the first rugby sevens game was played. A women's tournament was introduced at the 2009 Rugby World Cup Sevens in Dubai, and was first won by Australia. After the 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens, the tournament took an extended, five-year hiatus to allow the integration of rugby sevens at the Summer Olympics into the competitive calendar. France women's national rugby sevens team was champion of Europe in 2007 (European Women's Sevens Championship). They competed at the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens, their qualification being determined by their placement in the 2016–17 World Rugby Women's Sevens Series.
