Yoav Meiri
Yoav Meiri ( he, יואב מאירי; born July 28, 1975) is an Israeli former swimmer, who specialized in butterfly events. He is a 2000 Olympian, a 20-time Israeli champion, and a four-time national record holder in sprint butterfly. While studying in the United States, he earned All-American and All-Big Ten honors in the 200-yard butterfly as a member of the University of Minnesota swimming and diving team. Meiri accepted an athletic scholarship to attend the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he played for the Minnesota Golden Gophers under head coach Dennis Dale and then Assistant Coach Clark Campbell. While swimming for the Gophers, he recorded a second-fastest time (1:45.98) in the 200 m butterfly at the 2000 Big Ten Conference Championships, and fifteenth at the NCAA Championships (1:58.75) to earn All-American honors. The men's 4×100 metre medley relay event at the 2000 Summer Olympics took place on 22–23 September at the Sydney International Aquatic Centre in Sydney, Australia. Since the event's inception in 1960, the U.S. team dominated the race from the start to demolish a four-year-old world record and most importantly, to defend their Olympic title. Lenny Krayzelburg (53.87), Ed Moses (59.84), Ian Crocker (52.10), and Gary Hall, Jr. (47.92, an American) put together a blazing fast finish of 3:33.73 to cut off their own standard by 1.11 seconds. Moses also produced a mighty effort in the breaststroke leg as he became the first ever swimmer to record a sub one-minute barrier split. Yoav Bruck ( he, יואב ברוק; born March 6, 1972, in Lakhish) is a former swimmer from Israel, who competed in three Summer Olympics for his native country, starting in 1992. Bruck is Jewish. He finished 32nd in the 50m freestyle (23.72) and 31st in the 100m freestyle (51.46) in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. At the 1997 Maccabiah Games, he won gold medals in the 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter freestyle. In 2013 Bruck served as the Sports Chairman for the 2013 Maccabiah Games in Israel. Tal Stricker (born May 29, 1979) is a breaststroke swimmer from Israel, who competed for Israel at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. Early life Stricker was born in Ramat Gan, Israel, and his parents are Rafi and Nava Stricker. He attended Tichon Hadash High School in Tel Aviv. Swimming career Competing for Israel at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia, Stricker swam in three events.
