Yitzhak Hatuel
Yitzhak (also "Itzhak") Hatuel (born 15 September 1962) is an Israeli fencer. He competed in the individual foil event at the 1984 Summer Olympics at 21 years of age. In Round 1, he went 5-0, defeating Saul Mendoza of Bolivia, Jerome Ko of Hong Kong, Sergio Turiace of Argentina, Nobuyuki Azuma of Japan, and future gold medalist Philippe Omnès of France. In the quarter-finals, he went 2-2, defeating Bilal Rifaat of Egypt and Yu Yifeng of China. In the semi-finals, he went 3-2, defeating Bill Gosbee of Great Britain, Nobuyuki Azuma of Japan, and Mauro Numa of Italy -- who ended up winning the gold medal. In the finals, he went 0-2, losing to Numa and to Peter Lewison of the United States. Fencing
Fencing is a group of three related combat sports. The three disciplines in modern fencing are the foil, the épée, and the sabre (also ''saber''); winning points are made through the weapon's contact with an opponent. A fourth discipline, singlestick, appeared in the 1904 Olympics but was dropped after that and is not a part of modern fencing. Fencing was one of the first sports to be played in the Olympics. Based on the traditional skills of swordsmanship, the modern sport arose at the end of the 19th century, with the Italian school having modified the historical European martial art of classical fencing, and the French school later refining the Italian system. William David Gosbee (born 20 May 1961) better known as Bill Gosbee is a British fencer. He competed in the individual and team foil events at the 1984, 1988 and 1992 Summer Olympics. Delila Hatuel ( he, דלילה חטואל; born November 15, 1980) is an Israeli Olympic foil fencer. She represented Israel at the 2008 Summer Olympics, and has been ranked ninth in the world. Biography Delila Hatuel born in Acre, Israel. Her brother Maor Hatuel is also a fencer, as is her aunt, Olympian Lydia Hatuel-Czuckermann, and her uncle, Olympian Yitzhak Hatuel. Lydia Hatuel-Czuckermann (; born August 15, 1963, in Casablanca, Morocco) is an Israeli fencer. One of Israel's top female fencers, she competed in the individual foil event at the 1984, 1992, and 1996 Olympiads. Her fencing career started at the age of 8, she maintained an international ranking until 2004, and she still competed at the national level in 2012. Early and personal life Hatuel-Czuckermann was born in Casablanca, Morocco on August 15, 1963, one of nine children born to Jewish Moroccan parents. Mauro Numa (born 8 November 1961 in Mestre) is an Italian fencer and one of the strongest during the 1980s.His career started very early and in 1979, at 18, he was included in the Foil's Italian Team. In 1980 Numa could not compete at the Moscow Olympic Games due to the boycott. A foil is one of the three weapons used in the sport of fencing, all of which are metal. It is flexible, rectangular in cross section, and weighs under a pound. As with the épée, points are only scored by contact with the tip, which, in electrically scored tournaments, is capped with a spring-loaded button to signal a touch.
