Yilan International Children's Folklore And Folkgame Festival
The Yilan International Children's Folklore and Folkgame Festival (YICFFF; ) is an artistic festival in Taiwan, which has taken place during the summer vacation each year at the Dongshan River Water Park in Yilan County since 1996. *The festival was canceled in 2003 due to the outbreak of SARS. *Completion of the Hsuehshan Tunnel in 2006 made going to the YICFFF more convenient. *The government of Yilan announced the festival's cancellation in 2007. *The festival will be held again from July 3 to August 15 in 2010 as the DPP has again taken over the position as the government of Yilan since 2009. Closing down Yilan County Government announced on 8 August 2007 YICFFF would no longer be held due to a substantial loss of visitors and funds. Dongshan River Water Park
Dongshan River Water Park (), established in 1993, is a park located in Wujie, Yilan, Wujie Township, Yilan County, Taiwan, Yilan County, Taiwan, on the shores of the Dongshan River. Its slogan is "Near water, Have green" (親近水、擁有綠). It is one of Taiwan's most famous scenic spots. The Yilan International Children's Folklore and Folkgame Festival was held in the park annually until 2007. Due to SARS, the festival was cancelled in 2003. Yilan County, alternately spelled I-lan, is a County (Taiwan), county in northeastern Taiwan, Republic of China. Name The name ''Yilan'' derives from the Taiwanese indigenous peoples, indigenous Kavalan people. Hsuehshan Tunnel
The Hsuehshan Tunnel () is the longest tunnel in Taiwan, located on the National Freeway 5. It opened on June 16, 2006. Overview The tunnels are bored through the Hsuehshan Range. The road connects Taipei through New Taipei to Yilan County, cutting down the journey time from two hours to just half an hour. It bypasses the rural district of Pinglin, which used to receive high traffic prior to the completion of the tunnel. One of the key aims of constructing the tunnel was to connect the western coast of Taiwan, where 95% of the population lives, to the eastern coast of the island and in doing so tackle the unbalanced development on the island. It is constructed with one pilot tunnel and two main tunnels for eastbound and westbound traffic. Lin Tsung-hsien
Lin Tsung-hsien or Lin Tsong-shyan (; born 22 February 1962) is a Taiwanese politician. He was elected Yilan County Magistrate in 2009 and served until 2017, when he was appointed to lead the Council of Agriculture. Education and early career Lin was born in Luodong to a family of farmers, and received his bachelor's degree from Chiayi Agricultural College and master's degree from Fo Guang University. Upon completion of mandatory military service, Lin became an insurance agent.
