Yeo Ning Hong
Yeo Ning Hong ( zh, s=杨林丰, p=Yáng Línfēng; born 3 November 1943) is a Singaporean chemist and former politician who served as Minister for Defence between 1991 and 1994, and Minister for Communications between 1984 and 1991. A former member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), he was the Member of Parliament (MP) representing Kim Seng SMC between 1980 and 1991, and later the Kim Seng division of Kampong Glam GRC between 1991 and 1996 Education Yeo studied in University of Singapore and also graduated with a PhD from the University of Cambridge. He was also a research fellow of Christ's College, Cambridge between 1970 and 1973. Post political career Since retiring from politics, Yeo has been serving as Executive Chairman of the Singapore Technologies Group and Chairman of the Port of Singapore Authority. Darjah Utama Bakti Cemerlang
The Darjah Utama Bakti Cemerlang ( en, Distinguished Service Order) is a Singaporean national honour instituted in 1968. It was created to replace the ''Pingat Bakti Chemerlang'' ( en, Distinguished Service Medal) and is awarded to any person who has performed within Singapore any act or series of acts which constitute distinguished conduct. It may be awarded to people performing acts of distinguished conduct outside Singapore under special circumstances. The medal of the Darjah Utama Bakti Cemerlang is worn as a neck decoration pendant from a ribbon. Recipients are entitled to use the post-nominal letters DUBC. Ong Teng Cheong ( zh, c=王鼎昌, p=Wáng Dǐngchāng; 22 January 1936 – 8 February 2002) was a Singaporean politician who served as the fifth president of Singapore between 1993 and 1999. He was also the first elected president in Singapore's history. He decided not to run for a second term as president in 1999 partially due to the death of his wife.
