Samson Siasia Sports Stadium is a multi-use stadium located in the Yenagoa metropolis, Nigeria. It is currently used mostly for football matches and it is the home stadium of both Ocean Boys FC and the Bayelsa United. The stadium has a capacity of 5,000 people. Before 2009, it was known as the Yenagoa Township Stadium. It was rededicated in 2009 and was named after Samson Siasia. Samson Siasia is a former Nigerian soccer player who has coached a number of teams and recorded a number of successes. Ocean Boys FC
Ocean Boys Football Club was a Nigerian football club based in Brass, Bayelsa State. History Ocean Boys F.C. was founded in 2002 by Sylva Nathaniel Ngo, the chairman of Brass Local Government. Sylva formed the team to help curb the restiveness among youths in the Niger Delta and "keep the youths away from vices by channelling their energies into worthy endeavours." They were promoted to the top division in Nigerian football, the Nigerian Premier League within three years and were the 2006 league champions in their first season. They won the 2008 FA Cup, the third straight title for the Niger Delta. Bayelsa United FC is a football club based in Yenagoa, Bayelsa, Nigeria. They play in the second division of Nigerian football, the Nigeria National League. Their home games are played at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Ovom, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. 2008/09 season Due to torrential rains making the pitch unplayable, they played the 2007–2008 season in the Delta State town of Oghara. During the 2008–09 season, Bayelsa was forced to play three home games in Ibadan after crowd trouble in their derby with Ocean Boys. Samson Siasia (born 14 August 1967) is a Nigerian former professional football striker and the former head coach of the Nigeria national team from 2010 to October 2011. He was reappointed in 2016. On 16 August 2019, FIFA banned Siasia from all football activities for life (later reduced to five years), following a match-fixing investigation.
