Yemane Ghebremichael (born January 21, 1949 – November 5, 1997) (commonly known as Yemane Baria or Yemane Barya) was a well-known Eritrean songwriter, composer and singer. He became one of the most renowned Eritrean artists (a Tigrinya singer). Yemane Gebreab (born 1954 in Eritrea) is the Head of Political Affairs and Presidential Adviser. Yemane Haileselassie (born 21 February 1998) is an Eritrean male steeplechase runner. He is the national record holder at 8:22.52 minutes and represented his country at the 2016 Rio Olympics. He made his international debut at the 2015 IAAF World Cross Country Championships and placed 23rd in the junior race and shared in the team junior bronze medals. A senior debut followed at the 2015 African Games and he placed sixth at the 3000 metres steeplechase. At the start of the 2016 outdoor season he ran an Eritrean national record of 8:22.52 minutes. He was the fastest entrant at the 2016 IAAF World U20 Championships but was unable to break the Kenyan streak, taking the silver medal behind Amos Kirui close to his personal best with 8:22.67 minutes. Yemane Adhane Tsegay (born 8 April 1985) is an Ethiopian long distance runner who specialises in the marathon. He won the 2012 Rotterdam Marathon with a personal best time of 2:04:48 hours. He has also won marathons in Eindhoven, Gyeongju, Macau and Taipei. Career He began competing in international races in 2008 and finished third at the Casablanca Marathon that year, posting a time of 2:13:29. He had his first victory at the end of the year, winning the Macau Marathon in December. He opened 2009 with a second-place finish at the Marrakech Marathon in January.
