Yelyzaveta Mereshko
Yelyzaveta "Liza" Mereshko (born 8 July 1992) is a Ukrainian Paralympic swimmer. In 2015, she set the world record for the S6 100m freestyle event. Mereshko took silver in the SM6 200m Individual Medley at the 2019 World Para Swimming Championships in London. She was beaten by Maisie Summers-Newton Maisie Summers-Newton (born 26 July 2002) is a British Paralympic Swimming (sport), swimmer, competing in Disability sport classification#Swimming, S6 disability events. S6 (classification)
S6, SB5, SM6 are disability swimming classifications used for categorising swimmers based on their level of disability. This class includes people with a number of different types of disability including short stature, major limb impairment or loss in two limbs. This includes people with cerebral palsy, people with dwarfism and amputees. The class competes at the Paralympic Games. Definition This classification is for swimming. In the classification title, S represents Freestyle, Backstroke and Butterfly strokes. SB means breaststroke. SM means individual medley. Swimming classifications are on a gradient, with one being the most severely physically impaired to ten having the least amount of physical disability. 2016 IPC Swimming European Championships
The 2016 IPC Swimming European Championships was an international swimming competition. It was held in Funchal, Madeira running from 30 April to 7 May. Around 450 athletes from 50 different countries attended the competition. This was the last major swimming tournament for disabled athletes prior to the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio, and acted as a qualifying event for the Rio Games. To increase the possibility of qualification for top swimmers, the championships was made an Open tournament allowing competitors from countries outside Europe to compete. Venue The Championship was staged at the Complexo Olimpico de Piscinas da Penteada, which also held the 2005 Multi-nations Youth Meet and the 2015 Winter International Masters Open. The complex contains an Olympic sized swimming pool, a 25-metre pool, a diving pool and a training pool.
