Barbara Yelin
Barbara Yelin (born 26 July 1977, Munich) is a German cartoonist who has won several awards in Germany including the Bayerischer Kunstförderpreis, Max & Moritz Prize, and the Ernst-Hoferichter-Preis. As an educator, she has been affiliated with Hochschule der Bildenden Künste Saar and University of Applied Arts Vienna. Education Barbara Yelin studied illustration at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences and graduated in 2004. Career She first published the comic stories (2004) and (2006) in France. Rudolf Yelin
Rudolf Yelin (14 August 1864, Reutlingen – 28 December 1940, Stuttgart) was a German painter; best remembered for his religious glass paintings. He is generally referred to as The Elder, to distinguish him from his son of the same name. Biography He was born to Rudolph Yelin, a wealthy guano producer, and his wife, Elise née Biermann. Both were pastor's children and wanted their son to pursue a theological career. He attended the seminaries at Schöntal Abbey (1878) and in Bad Urach (1880), then lived at the Tübinger Stift, where he was taught evangelical theology. By the time he was twenty, he had turned away from that career path; going to Munich, where he began to study art. Gilah Yelin Hirsch
Gilah Yelin Hirsch (born 1944) is a multidisciplinary artist who works as a painter, writer, curator, and filmmaker. Her work explores the connections between science, art, and spirituality. She has been a leader in the International Society for the Study of Subtle Energies and Energy Medicine (ISSSEEM). Hirsch was a founding member of one of the earliest women art organizations, thLos Angeles Council of Women in the Arts (LACWA)and was active in the feminist art movement in Southern California. She was a professor of art at California State University, Dominguez Hills in Los Angeles since 1973 and became Professor Emerita in 2020. Shulamis Yelin
Shulamis Yelin (April 12, 1913 – June 24, 2002) was a Canadian Jewish writer and educator. Born in Montreal, Quebec to parents who had emigrated from Chernobyl, Yelin was an alumna of Macdonald College, from which she graduated in 1932; she then studied at Columbia Union Teachers College before completing an MA at the University of Montreal in 1961. At varying times during her career she taught students at every level, from early childhood to university. In 1941 she established the first day school kindergarten at the J. Peretz School, and from 1953 until 1954 she was assistant principal of the Young Israel Day School. During the 1960s she taught English at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. She was among the founders of the Reconstructionist synagogue in Montreal.
