''Year as Long as Life'' (russian: Год как жизнь) is a 1966 Soviet biographical drama film directed by Grigori Roshal. Plot The film takes place in Europe in the 19th century. The film shows the popular uprisings that took place there, as well as the search for truth and the confrontation of Karl Marx and opponents of the revolution. Grigori Lvovich Roshal (russian: Григорий Львович Рошаль; October 21, 1899 – January 11, 1983) was a Soviet film director and screenwriter. He directed 26 films between 1926 and 1968. Biography Grigori Roshal was born on 21 in October 1899 (according to other sources either on 20 in October 1899 or in 1898 ), in the city of Novozybkov (now Bryansk Oblast, Russia). After graduating from the Tenishev School in St. Petersburg he was employed at the People's Commissariat for Education of Ukraine and Crimea between the years 1918 and 1919. Since 1919 he was an instructor at the People's Commissariat of Azerbaijan, selected as head of the artistic and educational part of the children's playground in Zheleznovodsk. Georg Weerth
Georg Ludwig Weerth (17 February 1822 – 30 July 1856) was a German writer and poet. Weerth's poems celebrated the solidarity of the working class in its fight for liberation from exploitation and oppression. He was a friend and companion of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, who described Georg Weerth as the first and most significant poet of the German proletariat. Biography Weerth was born in the Westphalian town of Detmold, the son of the clergyman and school reformer Ferdinand Weerth. He died in Havana, Cuba. Georg Weerth wrote and edited the sketch page in the Neue Rheinische Zeitung, a German newspaper of which Karl Marx was editor-in-chief. Maximilien Joseph Moll (14 October 1813 – 16 June 1849) was a German labour leader and revolutionary. He was a pioneer of the German labour movement and a figure in early German socialism. Moll was an early associate of Karl Marx. Early life Joseph Maximilian Moll was born in Cologne on October 14, 1813. He was born into a poor working-class family and was apprenticed as a watchmaker. After his apprenticeship Moll travelled widely across Europe in search of work, as was customary for tradesmen at the time. Karl Friedrich Schapper (December 30, 1812, Weinbach – April 28, 1870, London) was a German socialist and labour leader. He was one of the pioneers of the labour movement in Germany and an early associate of Wilhelm Weitling and Karl Marx. Young Germany and Mazzini Schapper was born on December 30 1812 in Weinbach. His father, Christian Schapper, was a priest. Karl Schapper studied forestry in Giessen. As a student, he joined a radical fraternity, and in 1832, he participated in an insurrection known as ''Frankfurter Landsturm''. The would-be revolutionaries seized an arsenal and wanted to overthrow the Frankfurt diet and proclaim a republic. Schapper was imprisoned, but after three months, he managed to escape, making his way to Switzerland. There he worked as a forestry worker and typesetter.
