Lani Hall
Lani Hall (born November 6, 1945) is an American singer. From 1966 to 1971, she performed as lead vocalist for Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66, Sérgio Mendes & Brasil '66. In 1972, Hall released her first solo album, ''Sun Down Lady''. She may be best known, however, for providing the most recognizable (female) face and (female) vocal signature sound to Sérgio's group during her tenure there, and for her rendition of the theme song to the 1983 James Bond in film, James Bond film ''Never Say Never Again'', with its accompanying video, in which she prominently appears. In 1986, she was awarded her first Grammy Award, Grammy for ''Es Fácil Amar'', as "Best Latin Pop Performance". After that year, Hall largely retired, resurfacing in 1998 with the solo album ''Brasil Nativo''. Sérgio Mendes
Sérgio Santos Mendes (; 11 February 1941 – 5 September 2024) was a Brazilian musician. His career took off with worldwide hits by his band Brasil '66. He released 35 albums and was known for playing bossa nova, often mixed with funk. He was nominated for an Academy Awards, Oscar for Academy Award for Best Original Song, Best Original Song in 2012 as a co-writer of "Real in Rio" from the animated film ''Rio (2011 film), Rio''. Mendes was primarily known in the United States, where his albums were recorded and where most of his touring took place. He was married to Gracinha Leporace, who performed with him from the early 1970s. Mendes collaborated with many artists, including Black Eyed Peas, with whom he re-recorded in 2006 a remake of his 1966 version of the song "Mas que nada", which was a breakthrough hit for him. Paulo Sérgio Valle
Paulo Sérgio Kostenbader Valle (born August 6, 1940) is a Brazilian composer and lyricist. Career Valle started his career as part of the bossa nova trend when, with his brother Marcos Valle, he composed " Samba de Verão", which became one of the three Brazilian songs to become global hits along with "The Girl from Ipanema" and " Aquarela do Brasil." After this, Valle went on to write lyrics for various other composers, becoming one of the most important lyricists in a number of genres. He also became a successful jingle-writer as well. Valle is also the lyricist, alongside Nelson Motta, to write the Christmas theme song for Rede Globo, with music by Marcos Valle and arrangements by Hugo Bellard. He also wrote the lyrics to the anthem of Goiás Esporte Clube. Ronald Morris Rose (September 4, 1944 – October 24, 2019) was an American poker player from Dayton, Ohio, and a two time World Poker Tour (WPT) Champion with a World Series of Poker bracelet. Early life and career Rose was born in Vancouver, Washington. Prior to getting involved in the poker tournament circuit, Rose was a mathematician and project engineer in the Air Force. He was honorably discharged as a Captain in 1975, and later became an entrepreneur. He also held a seat on the American Stock Exchange and owned his own commodities firm.
