Selim I
Selim I ( ota, سليم الأول; tr, I. Selim; 10 October 1470 – 22 September 1520), known as Selim the Grim or Selim the Resolute ( tr, links=no, Yavuz Sultan Selim), was the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire from 1512 to 1520. Despite lasting only eight years, his reign is notable for the enormous expansion of the Empire, particularly his conquest between 1516 and 1517 of the entire Mamluk Sultanate of Egypt, which included all of the Levant, Hejaz, Tihamah and Egypt itself. On the eve of his death in 1520, the Ottoman Empire spanned about , having grown by seventy percent during Selim's reign. Selim's conquest of the Middle Eastern heartlands of the Muslim world, and particularly his assumption of the role of guardian of the pilgrimage routes to Mecca and Medina, established the Ottoman Empire as the pre-eminent Muslim state. Yavuz Görey
Yavuz Görey (27 August 1912 – 1995) was a Turkish sculptor. Life Yavuz Görey was born in Geneva, Switzerland on 27 August 1912. He is the brother of graphic artist İhap Hulusi Görey (1898–1986). After attending the primary and middle school at Lycée Saint-Joseph, Istanbul and Galatasaray High School, he graduated in 1929. He studied mathematics at University of Liège. He took painting lessons at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (Antwerp), Antwerp Fine Arts Academy in Belgium. He completed his higher education at the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Istanbul Fine Arts Academy, where he was a student in Namık İsmail's studio for a year, in 1940. He became an instructor at the Architecture Faculty of Istanbul Technical University. He died in 1995 in Istanbul. Mahmut Yavuz
Mahmut Yavuz (born 1982) is a Turkish Navy officer, who serves, currently as a lieutenant, in the SAT Commando (Underwater Attack) unit of the Marines and Special Forces. He is best known for his successful career as an ultramarathon runner and his indistinct fast speech. He holds many records and currently works as a running instructor. Mahmut Yavuz was born in 1982. At the age of 14, he entered the Naval High School on the island Heybeliada in Istanbul. After finishing high school, he attended the Naval Academy in Tuzla, Istanbul. He graduated with a BSc degree in computer engineering. Yavuz Bingöl (born 7 October 1964) is a Turkish folk music singer and actor. Early life Bingöl was born in Istanbul, Turkey in 1964 to teacher Yılmaz Bingöl and folk singer Senem Akkaş (better known with her stage name Şahsenem Bacı), both hailing from Sarıkamış district. Music career Bingöl enrolled at the Ankara State Conservatory in 1977 under influence from his mother but following his parents' divorce, he left the Conservatory in 1979 and moved to İzmir where his mother settled and started to work in menial jobs to support his family. Yavuz Mildon (born 1 June 1955 in Turkey) is a Turkish politician of the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) and the former president of the Congress of the Council of Europe, of which he remains an honorary member. Yavuz Ağralı
Yavuz Ağralı (born 9 April 1992) is a Turkish long-distance running athlete who will compete in the marathon for Turkey at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Yavuz Ağralı was born in Bingöl, eastern Turkey on 9 April 1992. Competing in marathon, he is a member of the Zeytinburnu Beştelsiz S.C. in Istanbul. Ağralı became runner-up at the 2014 Zagreb Half Marathon, held within the Balkan Half Marathon Championships. He won the Zagreb Marathon with 2:18:22 held within the 2017 Balkan Marathon Championships. In 2020, he took the silver medal a second time at the Zagreb Half Marathon. Yavuz Özkan (born 19 May 1985) is a Turkish former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Life and career Özkan began his career with his hometown club Denizlispor.
