picture info	Yasur (village) Yasur ( ar, ياصور) was a Palestinian village, located 40 kilometres northeast of Gaza, that was depopulated during the 1948 Arab–Israeli War. Its inhabitants fled a military assault by the First Battalion of Israel's Givati Brigade on 9 June 1948, part of Operation Barak. The village consisted of an estimated 244 houses, an elementary school for boys, and a village mosque. Following the war the area was incorporated into the State of Israel and Talmei Yehiel and Bnei Ayish were established on the former lands of Yasur. The ruins of the built area of the village were demolished, and the site is today located in an industrial park between Bnei Ayish and the Hatzor Airbase. 	Mount Yasur Mount Yasur is a volcano on Tanna Island, Vanuatu, high above sea level, on the coast near Sulphur Bay, northeast of the taller Mount Tukosmera, which was active in the Pleistocene. It has a largely unvegetated pyroclastic cone with a nearly circular summit crater 400 m in diameter. It is a stratovolcano, caused by the eastward-moving Indo-Australian Plate being subducted under the westward-moving Pacific Plate. It has been erupting nearly continuously for several hundred years, although it can usually be approached safely. Its eruptions, which often occur several times an hour, are classified as Strombolian or Vulcanian. A large lava plain creeps across the valley at the base. The glow of the volcano was apparently what attracted Captain James Cook on the first European journey to the island in 1774. Today, the mountain is a sacred area for the John Frum cargo cult. 	Yas'ur, Israel Yas'ur ( he, יַסְעוּר, lit. '' petrel'') is a kibbutz in northern Israel. Located east of Acre in the Western Galilee, it falls under the jurisdiction of Mateh Asher Regional Council. History The kibbutz was established in 1949 by Jewish immigrants from Hungary who were members of the Zionist Socialist youth movement Hashomer Hatzair; they were joined in 1951 by another group of immigrants from England and in 1956 by another group from Brazil. The parents of Israeli historian Benny Morris were among the founders of the kibbutz, shortly after his birth. The kibbutz was established on the land of the depopulated Palestinian village of Al-Birwa, and it uses the land of the depopulated villages of Al-Damun and Al-Ruways for agriculture.
