Yasuko Endō
was a Japanese model and actress who, set to debut as an Japanese idol, idol singer, committed suicide at age 17. She is not to be confused with narrator Yasuko Endō (遠藤泰子) or later actress Yasuko Endō (遠藤靖子). Biography Endō was born in Kōtō-ku, Tokyo, and was a student at Aoyama Public High School night classes. In her fifth year of elementary school, she joined the Himawari Theatre Group but left due to poor grades. In her second year of junior high school she was scouted by Box Corporation. At that same office was pre-debut Miho Nakayama and they became friends. Endō began professional activities in 1983. Shūsaku Endō
was a Japanese author who wrote from the rare perspective of a Japanese Catholic. Internationally, he is known for his 1966 historical fiction novel ''Silence'', which was adapted into a 2016 film of the same name by director Martin Scorsese. He was the laureate of several prestigious literary accolades, including the Akutagawa Prize and the Order of Culture, and was inducted into the Roman Catholic Order of St. Sylvester by Pope Paul VI. Saburō Kitajima
is a Japanese enka singer, lyricist, actor and composer. Background He was born Minoru Ōno (大野 穣), in Shiriuchi, Hokkaidō, to a fisherman. He was very poor due to the effects of World War II, and was forced to work while he studied. Music career When he was about to graduate from high school, he decided to become a singer. His debut single was called "Bungacha-Bushi," which was released in 1962. He has many famous songs, including "Namida Bune" (1962), "Kyōdai Jingi" (1965), "Yosaku" (1978) and "Kita no Ryōba" (1986). His 1965 song "Kaerokana" was written by lyricist Rokusuke Ei and composer Hachidai Nakamura. is the seventh studio album by Japanese entertainer Miho Nakayama. Released through King Records on July 11, 1988, the album was Nakayama's second release after ''One and Only'' to not feature any singles. The album cover is a painting of Nakayama in a bikini by Robert Blue; it was also used as the jacket cover of the single "Mermaid". "Long Distance to the Heaven" was written by Nakayama (under her pseudonym "Mizuho Kitamura") in memory of friend Yasuko Endō, who committed suicide on March 30, 1986. A copycat suicide is defined as an emulation of another suicide that the person attempting suicide knows about either from local knowledge or due to accounts or depictions of the original suicide on television and in other media. The publicized suicide serves as a trigger, in the absence of protective factors, for the next suicide by a susceptible or suggestible person. This is referred to as suicide contagion.
