Yasser Hefny
Yasser Mohammed Hefny (born 8 February 1989) is an Egyptian modern pentathlete. Hefny has won many international competitions including the youth world championship of pentathlon in 2005 and 2007, and later the world champion of speedball in Paris. Early life His love of sports began when he started swimming in the school of el Zohoor club, and at the age of 6 he joined the speedball school in the same club. After two years, Yasser decided to go competitive and joined the boys swimming and speedball teams. At the age of 11, Hefny have decided to find a new competition to challenge himself so he joined the modern pentathlon team in 6 October club. At the age of 12, he was chosen to join the Egyptian national team of modern pentathlon and began his international achievements by winning his first international title in the biathlon world championship in 2004 in Germany. Modern Pentathlon
The modern pentathlon is an Olympic sport consisting of fencing (one-touch épée), freestyle swimming, equestrian show jumping, pistol shooting, and cross country running. The event is inspired by the traditional pentathlon held during the ancient Olympics. The modern pentathlon was first held in 1912, and its rules have changed several times over the years. The latest structure, as of the 2020 Olympics, consists of three separate events for fencing, swimming, and equestrian, which determine each athlete's starting time in the final event. The last event, called the laser-run, alternates four legs of laser pistol shooting followed by an 800 m run (for 3200 m in total). The sport has been a feature of the Summer Olympic Games since 1912, despite several attempts to remove it. A world championships for modern pentathlon has been held annually since 1949. Speed-ball
Speed-Ball is a Racquets (sport), racquet sport invented in Egypt in 1960 in sports, 1961 by Mohamed Lotfy, father of Hussein Lotfy (first world champion) and Ahmad Lotfy (the present president of FISB), for the training of beginner tennis players. Today it is a sport in its own right, enjoying popularity not only in Egypt but in other countries. Several of these countries make up the International Federation of Speed-Ball (FISB). Description A hollow ball in latex revolves around a metallic mast (1,70m high) which is linked by a nylon thread (fishing thread type) of 1,70m length. The thread is knotted to the mast by a loop or a plastic ring freely revolving around a reel. The mast is fixed in a base from 40 kg to 90 kg. The ball is elliptic and is hit with a rigid plastic racquet with a small handle and a strings around 25 cm of diameter.
