Yasmin Knock
Yasmin Knoch (born 27 September 1976), known professionally as Yasmin K. and also using the name Y-ass, is a German pop singer. She is best known for appearing in 2001 on the second season of ''Popstars''. Life and career Born in Soufrière, Saint Lucia, Knoch is the daughter of Oliver Bendt, founder of Goombay Dance Band. Her mother is from the Caribbean island of Saint Lucia. Knoch grew up in Hamburg. After completing her ''Abitur'', she took lessons in singing, piano and guitar. She began performing in shows with her father's band. In 2000, she played a major role in the musical ''Buddy''. In the autumn of 2001, she auditioned for the television show ''Popstars''. Knoch did not make it into the finals and was eliminated from the show. Alex Christensen, a judge on ''Popstars'' began collaborating with her on numerous projects. Soufrière, Saint Lucia
Soufrière is a town on the West Coast of Saint Lucia, in the eastern Caribbean Sea. The town and the surrounding district has a population of 7,935. It was colonized by the French and was the original capital of the island. History French colonizers built large estates in Soufrière, and their descendants still live in the area. The French Revolution of 1789 resulted in many Royalists being executed and the enslaved Africans were released from enslavement. However, Napoleon reintroduced slavery when he came to power. The British invaded St Lucia shortly afterwards, but the enslaved Africans and French deserters fought them in a guerrilla campaign until 1803 when they were defeated and St Lucia became a British colony. Also, during that time, Castries became the capital of St Lucia. "Du hast den schönsten Arsch der Welt" ( en, "You Have the Sweetest Ass in the World") is a German-language song by dance music producer and DJ Alex C. (Alex Christensen). It was recorded in cooperation with and featuring singer Y-ass. Also in 2007, Basshunter made a remix of the song titled "Du hast den schönsten Arsch der Welt (Bass My Ass Remix)". The song itself is a cover version of The Soundlovers' 1996 song "Run Away". The song marked an international breakthrough for Alex Christensen.
