The Yarroweyah Football Netball Club, nicknamed the Hoppers, is an Australian rules football and netball club playing in the Picola & District Football League. The club is based in the small town of Yarroweyah, Victoria. A Yarroweyah Football Club competed in the Murray Border Football Association between 1893 and 1901, and football was certainly being played in the town prior to that, but the current club of that name was not born until 1955, commencing in the Picola & District Football League The Picola & District Football Netball League is an Australian rules football and netball league affiliated with the AFL Victoria Country. Netball is a ball sport played on a court by two teams of seven players. It is among a rare number of sports which have been created exclusively for female competitors. The sport is played on indoor and outdoor netball courts and is specifically played in schools. Netball is most popularly played in Commonwealth of Nations, Commonwealth nations. Yarroweyah ( ) is a town in northern Victoria, Australia. The town is located in the Shire of Moira local government area, north of the state capital, Melbourne and west of Cobram. The town is situated near the intersection of Kenny Road, Kokoda Road and the Murray Valley Highway. At the , Yarroweyah and the surrounding area had a population of 548. History Yarroweyah Post Office opened on 1 January 1882. In 1888 it was renamed Yarroweyah South when a new Yarroweyah post office opened to the north. This latter office closed in 1976. After World War II, an extensive soldier settlement area was established to the south of Yarroweyah. Picola is a town in northern Victoria, Australia. The town is located in the Shire of Moira local government area, from the state capital, Melbourne. At the , Picola had a population of 334. Picola Post Office opened on 24 August 1878 and closed in late 2010. The Australia Post outlet was then taken over by the Picola Hotel, until early 2011. The hotel remains a community postal agent. The Picola Hotel offers a variety of services, from meals and functions, weekly raffles, and is now the local milk bar, community postal agent and V/Line ticket agency.
