Yapacana National Park
The Yapacana National Park ( es, Parque nacional Yapacana) Also Cerro Yapacana National Park Is a protected area with the status of national park in the South American country of Venezuela which was formed on December 12, 1978 by executive decree of President Carlos Andres Perez. It is located southwest of the confluence of the Ventuari River on the Orinoco River, in the jurisdiction of the Atabapo municipality of Amazonas state. Among the ecological and protection objectives of the Yapacana National Park is preserving and conserving areas that represent a valuable scenic and scientific resource, with a pioneering vegetation, a testimony to the evolution of the vegetation with Paleotropic and Neotropic floristic connections. Ventuari River
The Ventuari River is the largest tributary of the Orinoco in southern Venezuela. The Ventuari flows from south-central Venezuela in the Guiana Highlands southwest into the Orinoco River. It is long and its major tributary is the Manapiare River. The river drains the Guayanan Highlands moist forests ecoregion. Guayana Shield
The Guiana Shield (french: Plateau des Guyanes, Bouclier guyanais; nl, Hoogland van Guyana, Guianaschild; pt, Planalto das Guianas, Escudo das Guianas; es, Escudo guayanés) is one of the three cratons of the South American Plate. It is a 1.7 billion-year-old Precambrian geological formation in northeast South America that forms a portion of the northern coast.
