Yapa People
The Warlpiri, sometimes referred to as Yapa, are a group of Aboriginal Australians defined by their Warlpiri language, although not all still speak it. There are 5,000–6,000 Warlpiri, living mostly in a few towns and settlements scattered through their traditional land in the Northern Territory, north and west of Alice Springs. About 3,000 still speak the Warlpiri language. The word "Warlpiri" has also been romanised as Walpiri, Walbiri, Elpira, Ilpara, and Wailbri. Language The Warlpiri language is a member of the Ngumpin-Yapa subgroup of the Pama-Nyungan family of languages. The name ''Yapa'' comes from the word for "person", and is also used by the Warlpiri people to refer to themselves, as Indigenous people rather than "kardiya" (non-Indigenous). The closest relative to Warlpiri is Warlmanpa. Yapa Languages
The Ngarrkic (Ngarga) or Yapa languages are a small language family of Central Australia, consisting of the two closely related languages Warlmanpa and the more populous Warlpiri. The family was named after the common word for ''initiated man'' in the member languages, ngarrka (). Ngarga is an older spelling. In about 2000 an alternate name was suggested, yapa, based on the word for ''aboriginal man'' in the two languages. Yapa-Hadda
Yapa-Hadda, also Yapah-Hadda, was the mayor/ruler of ''Biruta''-(Beirut) of the 1350- 1335 BC Amarna letters correspondence. Yapa-Hadda is referenced in 13 letters of the Amarna letters 382–letter corpus, and specifically in relation to neighboring Gubla-(Byblos), ruled by Rib-Hadda, (who was the most prolific writer of the Amarna letters, (68)). Yapa-Hadda is sometimes the subject of letters, typically involved with his ships, and a collusion of cities, all against Gubla and Rib-Haddi. Yapa-Hadda is the author of two letters, both sent to the pharaoh, one by way of Šumu-Haddi, (EA 97), the other to the pharaoh by way of an Egyptian commissioner (EA 98), ( EA is for 'el Amarna'). Anura Priyadharshana Yapa
Yapa Appuhamilage Anura Priyadharshana (known as Anura Priyadharshana Yapa born 18 January 1959) MP for Kurunegala former Cabinet Minister of Disaster Management in 15th Parliament of Sri Lanka. Anura Priyadharshana Yapa is also the General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party. He was also Sri Lanka's former Cabinet Minister of Petroleum and a Member of Parliament representing the Kurunegala District. Mangala Yapa
Mangala Yapa is the chairman of Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI). He was also former managing director of the Agency for Development of the Ministry of Development Strategies and International Trade in Sri Lanka. Education Mangala Yapa was born on 13 November 1957 in Badulla, Sri Lanka, and after winning a scholarship attended Nalanda College, Colombo, for secondary studies. After leaving Nalanda continuing his higher studies, he received a Ministry of Higher Education scholarship to Astrakhan State University, Russia, where he obtained a MSc in ship building. Yapa, who is a marine engineer, naval architect and a chartered engineer by profession, is a fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka and member of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST-UK). Sunil Yapa
Sunil Yapa is a Sri Lankan American fiction writer and novelist. Yapa won the 2010 ''Hyphen'' Asian American Short Story Contest for his short story, "Pilgrims (What is Lost and You Cannot Regain)," which is also published in the Fall 2010 issue of ''Hyphen'', Issue No. 21, the "New Legacy Issue." His debut novel, ''Your Heart is a Muscle the Size of a Fist'' (2016) was released on January 12, 2016 by Lee Boudreaux Books, an imprint of Little, Brown and Company.
