Yaoli, Jiangxi
Yaoli () is a town of Fuliang County, in the north-east of Jiangxi province, China, located on the mountainous border region with Anhui. Yaoli is a popular tourism site for its mountain scenery, well preserved old buildings, and historic production of both Chinese porcelain and its main material, petuntse or "porcelain stone". Ceramic production seems to have begun as early as the Tang dynasty, but declined by around 1600 under the Ming dynasty, leaving several abandoned dragon kilns that have been preserved, and a town centre that was largely unchanged until recent years. Both mining of porcelain stone and the production of porcelain continue on a smaller scale, using rather traditional methods. Yao Lee
Yao Lee (; 10 September 1922 – 19 July 2019), also credited as Yao Li, Yiu Lei and Hue Lee, was a Chinese singer active from the 1930s to the 1970s. She was the sister of Yao Min, also a famous singer and songwriter. She was considered one of the Seven Great Singing Stars of Shanghai in the 1940s. Biography Born Yáo Xiùyún (Mandarin)/Yiu Sau Wan (Cantonese) () and raised in Shanghai, Yao began performing on the radio in 1935 at the age of 13. When she was 14, she recorded her first single with Yàn Húa () called "New Little Cowherd" (, Xin xiao fang niu). After being introduced by singers Zhou Xuan and Yan Hua, she was signed to Pathé Records when she was 16 in 1937, and the first record she released with the label was "Yearning for Sale" (, Mai Xiang Si). Yao Li (要離) was a famed assassin of the state of Wu in the Spring and Autumn period of ancient China. He was recommended to King Helü of Wu by Minister Wu Zixu :''Note: names are in simplified characters followed by traditional and Pinyin transliteration.'' Wu Yun (died 484 BC), better known by his courtesy name Zixu, was a Chinese military general and politician of the Wu kingdom in the Spring and Aut .... His mission was to kill Prince Qingji, who was taking refuge in the state of Wei. In order to pretend to be a criminal in the state of Wu, Yao Li killed his wife and his mother, and his right hand was cut off by King Helü. After his arrival in the state of Wei, he met Qingji and was able to stay in the same boat with his target. As the boat reached the middle of the river, he killed Qingji with a lance and then committed suicide.
