Yao-Hsun Yang
Yang Yao-hsun (; born 22 January 1983 in Taitung City, Taiwan) is a former Taiwanese People, Taiwanese professional baseball pitcher and outfielder for the Fubon Guardians of the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). He spent the majority of his career in Nippon Professional Baseball as a pitcher for the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks. Career Yang played for the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks of Nippon Professional Baseball from 2006 until 2013 before expressing his desire to sign in America because of his MLB dream. On 13 February 2014 he signed a minor league deal with an invite to Spring training with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was assigned to the Altoona Curve to begin the season but was released on July 10, 2014. He signed with the Lamigo Monkeys (now Rakuten Monkeys) of Chinese Professional Baseball League, CPBL in 2015 and played for the club through 2021. Yang (; ) is the transcription of a Chinese family name. It is the sixth most common surname in Mainland China. It is the 16th surname on the ''Hundred Family Surnames'' text. Asian Games
The Asian Games, also known as Asiad, is a continental multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from all over Asia. Dai-Kang Yang (, a.k.a. ; born January 17, 1987, Taitung City, Taitung County, Taiwan; previously known as ''Yang Chung-shou'' or ''Chung-Shou Yang'' 陽仲壽) is a Taiwanese professional baseball outfielder for the Lake Country DockHounds of the American Association of Professional Baseball. He previously played as an outfielder for the Yomiuri Giants in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB). 2013 World Baseball Classic
The 2013 World Baseball Classic (WBC) was an international professional baseball competition, held from March 2 to March 19, 2013. This was the third iteration of the WBC, following the two previous tournaments, held in 2006 and 2009. Unlike the two previous WBCs, which consisted of the same sixteen countries, only the twelve countries that won at least one game in the 2009 WBC were guaranteed a berth in the main tournament. The automatic qualifiers were Australia, China, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Puerto Rico, South Korea, the United States, and Venezuela. 2013 World Baseball Classic – Qualification
The Qualifying Round of the 2013 World Baseball Classic was held from September 19 to November 19, 2012. Although the 2006 and 2009 editions of the World Baseball Classic were contested by the same pre-selected field of 16 teams, for the 2013 tournament only the 12 teams that won at least one game in 2009 were guaranteed a berth in the main tournament. The other four ( Canada, Chinese Taipei, Panama, and South Africa) contested the qualifying round along with 12 additional teams invited by the International Baseball Federation (IBAF). The qualifiers were organized as four independent modified double-elimination tournaments featuring four teams each. The 2006 World Baseball Classic (WBC) was the inaugural tournament between national baseball teams that included players from Major League Baseball. It was held from March 3 to 20 in stadiums that are in and around Tokyo, Japan; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Lake Buena Vista, Florida; Phoenix, Arizona; Scottsdale, Arizona; Anaheim, California; and San Diego, California. Altoona Curve
The Altoona Curve are a Minor League Baseball team based in Altoona, Pennsylvania, named after nearby Horseshoe Curve (but also alluding to the curveball, a type of pitch). The team plays in the Eastern League and is the Double-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Curve play in Peoples Natural Gas Field, located in Altoona; it was opened in 1999 and seats 7,210 people. Spring training is the preseason in Major League Baseball (MLB), a series of practices and exhibition games preceding the start of the regular season. Outfielder
An outfielder is a person playing in one of the three defensive positions in baseball or softball, farthest from the batter. These defenders are the left fielder, the center fielder, and the right fielder. As an outfielder, their duty is to catch fly balls and ground balls then to return them to the infield for the out or before the runner advances, if there are any runners on the bases. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. Taiwanese People
Taiwanese people may be generally considered the people of Taiwan who share a common culture, ancestry and speak Taiwanese Mandarin, Hokkien, Hakka or indigenous Taiwanese languages as a mother tongue.
