Yannick Bourseaux
Yannick Bourseaux (born 18 February 1975) is a French competitor in Paralympic biathlon, cross-country skiing and paratriathlon. Before the accident that paralysed his arm, he was an elite able-bodied triathlete on the French National triathlon team. Bourseaux competed in biathlon and cross-country skiing in the Torino (2006) and Vancouver (2010) Winter Paralympics but did not win any medals. He won the TRI 4 (arm impairment) paratriathlon title at the ITU Triathlon World Championships in 2011 and 2012 and came second to Paralympic swimmer Martin Schultz in 2013. Paratriathlon
Para triathlon is a variant of the triathlon for athletes with a physical disability. The sport is governed by World Triathlon (TRI) (formerly known as ITU), and was first held as a Paralympic event at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. At events sanctioned by World Triathlon, athletes compete over a Para triathlon sprint distance event with a 750 m swim, 20 km cycle using handcycles, bicycles or tandem bicycles with a guide and a 5 km wheelchair or running race. Athletes compete in nine sport classes according to the nature of their physical impairments, with variations made to the traditional event structure commensurate with their disability. ITU Triathlon World Championships
The World Triathlon Championship Series is World Triathlon's annual series of triathlon events used to crown an annual world champion since 2008. There are multiple rounds of competitions culminating in a Grand Final race. Athletes compete head-to-head for points in these races that will determine the overall World Triathlon champion. The elite championship races are held, with one exception, over two distances, the standard or 'Olympic' distance (1.5 km swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run) and the sprint distance (750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run).
