Yanis Meziane
Yanis Meziane (born 26 January 2002) is a French middle-distance runner, who specializes in the 800 metres. He won the 800m at the 2023 European Athletics U23 Championships. Career Meziane was a bronze medalist in the 800m at the 2021 European Athletics U23 Championships. He was crowned French indoor and outdoor champion in 2022. Selected for the 2022 European Athletics Championships in Munich, he did not progress from the heats. He ran under 1:45 in the 800 metres for the first time in 2023, achieving 1:44.78 in Paris on June 9. Meziane won the 800m at the 2023 European Athletics U23 Championships in Espoo, Finland. He entered the Diamond League race in Monaco in July 2023, and ran a personal best time of 1:44.30. Diamond League
The Diamond League is an annual series of elite track and field athletic competitions comprising fourteen of the best invitational athletics meetings. The series sits in the top tier of the World Athletics (formerly known as the IAAF) one-day meeting competitions. The inaugural season was in 2010. It was designed to replace the IAAF Golden League, which had been held annually since 1998. The full sponsorship name is the Wanda Diamond League, the result of an agreement with Wanda Group that was announced in December 2019. Rabat
Rabat (, also , ; ar, الرِّبَاط, er-Ribât; ber, ⵕⵕⴱⴰⵟ, ṛṛbaṭ) is the capital city of Morocco and the country's seventh largest city with an urban population of approximately 580,000 (2014) and a metropolitan population of over 1.2 million. 2024 Meeting International Mohammed VI D'Athlétisme
The 2024 Meeting International Mohammed VI d'Athlétisme was the 15th edition of the annual outdoor track and field meeting in Morocco. Held on 19 May at the Stade de Marrakech, it was the fourth leg of the 2024 Diamond League – the highest level international track and field circuit. Though the meeting is typically held in Rabat, in 2024 it was held in Marrakesh. At the meeting, Prudence Sekgodiso set an 800 m world lead while Shericka Jackson won her Diamond League opener at 200 m, although her time of 22.82 seconds was not as fast as expected. Results Athletes competing in the Diamond League disciplines earned extra compensation and points which went towards qualifying for the 2024 Diamond League finals. First place earned 8 points, with each step down in place earning one less point than the previous, until no points are awarded in 9th place or lower. 2024 Diamond League
The 2024 Diamond League is the fifteenth season of the annual series of outdoor track and field meetings, organised by World Athletics. The competition is a revision to the top level athletics series since Diamond League foundation in 2010. The number of Diamond Discipline events is 32. Each meeting will host a number of Diamond Discipline events and some of these events will not be broadcast. Events losing Diamond Discipline status will feature on the World Athletics Continental Tour, the second tier of track and field meetings.
