Yangzee FC
Yangzee Football Club ( ko, 양지 축구단) was a South Korean football club. Yangzee was a special football club to aim anti-communism, and was founded by the Korean Central Intelligence Agency (KCIA) on 29 March 1967, after the North Korea national football team reached the quarter-finals in the 1966 FIFA World Cup. Under the then-head of the KCIA Kim Hyong-uk, the club was charged with improving the level of football in South Korea, recruiting the best talent of the time. Participation in the squad took the place of the mandatory military service requirement for Korean nationals, and the players lived and trained at the headquarters of the Intelligence Agency during their time with the team. They also received high salaries and long-term overseas training in return for intensive training. The President's Cup National Football Tournament is a football competition, held by Korea Football Association, for South Korean semi-professional and amateur football clubs. This competition was originally one of major club competitions of South Korean football with Korean National Football Championship, but its status was undermined after the professional clubs appeared in South Korea according to the foundation of K League, the South Korean professional league. This article is the history of South Korean national football teams, including senior team and youth teams. Early history Korea (Joseon) was not introduced to the sport of association football until the late 19th century; it is often said that football in Korea dates to 1882, when the Royal Navy sailors from played a game while their vessel was visiting the Incheon Port. Korea became a Japanese colony in 1905 and was annexed into it outright in 1910. In 1921, the first All Joseon Football Tournament was held, and in 1928, the Joseon Football Association was organized, which created a foundation to disseminate and develop football in Korea. Korean teams participated in competitions with Japanese teams from around 1926; Joseon Football Club became a ''de facto'' national team for Koreans, and won the 1935 Emperor's Cup. The South Korea national football team (; recognized as Korea Republic by FIFA) represents South Korea in men's international football and is governed by the Korea Football Association. South Korea has emerged as a major football power in Asia since the 1980s, having participated in ten consecutive and eleven overall FIFA World Cup tournaments, the most for any Asian country. Despite initially going through five World Cup tournaments without winning a match, South Korea became the first (and so far only) Asian team to reach the semi-finals when they co-hosted the 2002 tournament with Japan. Pestabola Merdeka
Merdeka Tournament or Pestabola Merdeka is a friendly football tournament held in Malaysia to commemorate the Independence Day. The competition bears the Malay word for independence. As of 2022, it has been held 40 times, and decreasingly in recent decades. Matches in Merdeka tournament considered International "A" matches (Friendly match) by FIFA. Its final has been mainly held at Stadium Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur.
