Yang Gang (journalist)
Yang Gang (; 1905 – 7 October 1957), also known as Yang Bin (), was a Chinese journalist, novelist, and translator. She gained prominence reporting for the influential newspaper ''Ta Kung Pao'' during the Second Sino-Japanese War, and was considered one of the top four female journalists in China. After the Chinese Communist Revolution, she served as Premier Zhou Enlai's secretary and later Deputy Chief Editor of the ''People's Daily''. She committed suicide in October 1957, after being forced to persecute her colleagues during the Anti-Rightist Campaign, although the exact reason for her suicide remains undetermined. Early life and education Yang was born in Pingxiang, Jiangxi province, one of 11 children in a family of Xiantao, Hubei ancestry. Yang Gang (; born January 1953) is a former Chinese politician. Between 2010 and 2013 Yang served as the deputy director of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ). Between 1999 and 2010, he was a top regional official in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, serving first as the Communist Party Secretary of regional capital Urumqi and then Deputy Secretary of the Xinjiang regional Party Committee. Biography Yang was born in Gaocheng County, Hebei in January 1953, near the city of Shijiazhuang. He followed his father Yang Zhaocai to Xinjiang where the family lived at and worked for the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (XPCC). ''Red Sorghum'' is a 1988 Chinese film about a young woman's life working in a distillery for sorghum liquor. It is based on the first two parts of the novel '' Red Sorghum'' by Nobel laureate Mo Yan. The film marked the directorial debut of internationally acclaimed filmmaker Zhang Yimou, and the acting debut of film star Gong Li. Ryanggang Province (Ryanggangdo; ko, 량강도, ''Ryanggang-do'', ) is a Administrative divisions of North Korea, province in North Korea. The province is bordered by China (Jilin) on the north, North Hamgyong on the east, South Hamgyong on the south, and Chagang on the west.
