Yang Yansheng
Yang Yansheng (; born 5 January 1988) is a Chinese pole vaulter. He is the former Chinese record holder for the event both indoors and outdoors with bests of 5.80 and 5.75 metres respectively. Born in Binzhou in China's Shandong province, Yang won the gold medal at the 2005 World Youth Championships and then took the silver at the 2005 National Games of China, finishing behind Liu Feiliang. He stepped up an age category and won at the Asian Junior Athletics Championships before taking the silver medal at the 2006 World Junior Championships. That same year he took silver at the 2006 Asian Indoor Athletics Championships behind Japan's Daichi Sawano and the bronze medal at the 2006 Asian Games. He won the 2009 national championships with a height of 5.35 metres. He represented his region at the 11th National Games of China and won the bronze medal. 2010 IAAF World Indoor Championships – Men's Pole Vault
The men's pole vault at the 2010 IAAF World Indoor Championships was held at the ASPIRE Dome on 12 and 13 March 2010. The winning margin was 31 cm which as of July 2024 remains the only time the men's pole vault was won by more than 25 cm at these championships. 2014 IAAF World Indoor Championships
The 2014 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics was the fifteenth edition of the international indoor track and field competition, organised by the IAAF. The event was held between 7–9 March 2014 at the Ergo Arena in Sopot, Poland. Preparation Host bidding The IAAF announced on 1 September 2011 that it had received bids from Poland and Croatia to host the championships. Later Zagreb, Croatia withdrew due to lack of funding. On 11 November 2011 at a Council meeting in Monaco, the IAAF announced that Sopot, as the only remaining bidder, would host the championships. Budapest, Hungary had shown interest but eventually did not bid. Venue The Championships were held at the Ergo Arena, opened in 2010, on the border of the cities of Sopot and Gdańsk. PSD Bank Meeting
The PSD Bank Meeting was an annual indoor track and field competition which took place in February at the Arena-Sportpark in Düsseldorf, Germany. The inaugural edition ''1. Internationales Indoor Meeting Düsseldorf'' was held in 2006 and attracted a sell-out crowd of 1500 people. The competition was created following investment by the Düsseldorf municipal council, bringing a new usage to the venue which had served as a training facility for the 1977 IAAF World Cup. The second edition of the competition attracted a number of high calibre athletes from Europe, Africa, Asia and North America, with David Gillick's Irish national record in the 400 metres being a highlight. The meeting was one of a handful of competitions which holds permit status from the European Athletics Association. Athletics At The 2012 Summer Olympics
The athletics competitions at the 2012 Olympic Games in London were held during the last 10 days of the Games, on 3–12 August. Track and field events took place at the Olympic Stadium in east London. The road events, however, started and finished on The Mall in central London. Over 2,000 athletes from 201 nations competed in 47 events in total, with both men and women having a very similar schedule of events. Men competed in 24 events and women in 23, of which 21 were the same for both. The women's schedule lacked the 50 km race walk and included 100 m hurdles and heptathlon as opposed to the men's 110 m hurdles and decathlon. IAAF Diamond League
The Diamond League is an annual series of elite track and field athletic competitions comprising fourteen of the best invitational athletics meetings. The series sits in the top tier of the World Athletics (formerly known as the IAAF) one-day meeting competitions. The inaugural season was in 2010. It was designed to replace the IAAF Golden League, which had been held annually since 1998. The full sponsorship name is the Wanda Diamond League, the result of an agreement with Wanda Group that was announced in December 2019. The 2012 Asian Indoor Athletics Championships was the fifth edition of the international indoor athletics event between Asian nations. It took place at the Vocational and Technical College Athletics Hall in Hangzhou, China, between 18 and 19 February. 2011 Asian Athletics Championships
The 19th Asian Athletics Championships were held in Kobe, Japan between July 7–10, 2011 at the Kobe Universiade Memorial Stadium. The tournament had 507 athletes from forty Asian nations competing in the 42 track and field events over the four-day competition. Two countries dominated the events: the host nation Japan won the most medals at the competition (32 overall, 11 golds), closely followed by China's eleven golds and 27 overall medal haul. The next most successful countries were Bahrain (which won five golds on the track through its former Ethiopian and Kenyan runners) and India, which won twelve medals. A total of eight Championship records were equalled or beaten at the competition. India's Mayookha Johny won the long jump and also broke the Indian record to take bronze in the triple jump.
