Yancy Gates
Yancy Grayson Gates (born October 15, 1989) is an American professional basketball player who last played for Semt77 Yalovaspor of the BSL. He played college basketball for the University of Cincinnati. College career Gates was a highly touted recruit coming out of high school, and he committed to play college basketball for the Cincinnati Bearcats. As a junior, he was suspended for a game due to a confrontation with an assistant coach. As a senior, he was a part of the 2011 Crosstown Shootout brawl, punching Xavier center Kenny Frease. After the brawl, a tearful Gates apologized for his role in the scrum. He was suspended for six games as a result. After the suspension, Gates blossomed, scoring 23 points in an important win over Georgetown and 18 points in a huge upset over the second-ranked Syracuse. The Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) (English language: ''Federal Basketball League''), for sponsorship reasons named easyCredit BBL, is the highest level league of professional club basketball in Germany. The league comprises 18 teams. A BBL season is split into a league stage and a playoff stage. At the end of the league stage, the top eight teams qualify for the playoff stage, and the teams positioned in the 17th and 18th places are relegated to a lower-tier league. The playoffs are played in a "Best of five" format. The winning team of the final round are crowned the German Champions of that season. The Xavier Musketeers men's basketball team represents Xavier University (Cincinnati), Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio.
