Yancey Richardson Gallery
Founded in 1995, the Yancey Richardson Gallery is a dealer of fine art photography, based in New York City and founded by Yancey Richardson. Formerly housed in the 560 Broadway building in Soho, the gallery moved to New York's Chelsea art district (525 W 22nd) in 2000. Yancey Richardson: owner Richardson received a B.A and M.A. from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas, and held the Helena Rubinstein Fellowship in curatorial and critical studies at The Whitney Museum of American Art in 1979. She has served on a variety of boards and committees and has been active in supporting organizations such as the Public Art Fund, the International Center of Photography, and the Renaissance Society. August Sander
August Sander (17 November 1876 – 20 April 1964) was a German portrait and documentary photographer. His first book ''Face of our Time'' (German: ''Antlitz der Zeit'') was published in 1929. Sander has been described as "the most important German portrait photographer of the early twentieth century". Sander's work includes landscape, nature, architecture, and street photography, but he is best known for his portraits, as exemplified by his series ''People of the 20th Century''. In this series, he aims to show a cross-section of society during the Weimar Republic. Early life Sander was born on November 17, 1876 in Herdorf, the son of a carpenter working in the mining industry. He had six siblings. Yousuf Karsh
Yousuf Karsh, FRPS (December 23, 1908 – July 13, 2002) was a Canadian-Armenian photographer known for his portraits of notable individuals. He has been described as one of the greatest portrait photographers of the 20th century. An Armenian genocide survivor, Karsh migrated to Canada as a refugee. By the 1930s he established himself as a significant photographer in Ottawa, where he lived most of his adult life, though he traveled extensively for work. His iconic 1941 photograph of Winston Churchill was a breakthrough point in his 60-year career, through which he took numerous photos of known political leaders, men and women of arts and sciences. Over 20 photos by Karsh appeared on the cover of ''Life'' magazine, until he retired in 1993. Kenneth Josephson
Kenneth Josephson (born July 1, 1932) is an American photographer. Biography Kenneth Josephson was born on July 1, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan. He completed his elementary education in Detroit. In 1953 after being sent in Germany by the United States Army he was trained in photolithography and aerial reconnaissance photography. In 1957 he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Rochester Institute of Technology, located in New York. There he studied under Minor White. In 1960 he earned a master's degree from the Institute of Design of the Illinois Institute of Technology. While studying there he was influenced by Aaron Siskind and Harry Callahan. Tom Hunter
Sir Thomas Blane Hunter (born 6 May 1961) is a Scottish businessman, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. Sports Division Tom set up his first business after graduating from the University of Strathclyde as he was, in his own words, "unemployable". With a £5,000 loan from his grocer father Campbell and matching funds from a bank, he started selling trainers from the back of a van. David Hilliard (born 1964 in Lowell, Massachusetts) is an American photographer. Lynn Geesaman
Lynn Geesaman (1938 – February 29, 2020) was an American photographer. Gessaman was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and she attended Wellesley College where she graduated with a degree in physics in 1960. Geesaman worked as a middle school math teacher in Minneapolis and began learning photography at age 33. Geesaman's work included soft-focus photography that was a result of how she processed the prints she made. Although she is primarily known for her photographs of European gardens and canals, which she started visiting in 1987, Geesaman was already starting to be known for her photography even before starting to visit European garden. Her work is focused on light, and while originally she worked in black and white her later work adds color. Geesaman was the 1992 Artist in Residence at the Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest.
