Yambo Ouologuem
Yambo Ouologuem (August 22, 1940 – October 14, 2017) was a Malian writer. His first novel, ''Le devoir de violence'' (English: ''Bound to Violence'', 1968), won the Prix Renaudot. He later published ''Lettre à la France nègre'' (1969), and ''Les mille et une bibles du sexe'' (1969) under the pseudonym Utto Rodolph. ''Le devoir de violence'' was initially well-received, but critics later charged that Ouologuem had plagiarized passages from Graham Greene and other established authors. Ouologuem turned away from the Western press as a result of the matter, and remained reclusive for the rest of his life. Life Yambo Ouologuem was born an only son in an aristocratic Malian family in 1940 in Bandiagara, the main city in the Dogon region of Mali (then a part of French Soudan). His father was a prominent landowner and school inspector. He learned several African languages and gained fluency in French, English, and Spanish. Yambo Records
Yambo Records was a blues record label based in Chicago, Illinois. It was founded by arranger and composer Willie Dixon in the late 1960s after he left Chess Records. Yambo Records also had two subsidiary labels, Spoonful and Supreme. The label was based at 7711 South Racine Avenue in Chicago, along with Dixon's related companies Blues Factory and Soul Productions. It was distributed by Summit Distributors in Skokie, Illinois. Dixon recorded and released his 1971 album ''Peace?'' on Yambo. He also released several singles, including the hit "1, 2, 3, 4" by five-year-old Lucky Peterson. The label closed in the mid-1970s. Enrico Novelli, writing as Yambo (5 June 187630 December 1943), was an Italian writer, journalist, and filmmaker. Enrico Novelli was born on 5 June 1876 in Pisa, the son of Ermete Novelli. He worked in newspapers, beginning at ''La Sera'' (possibly ''Corriere della Sera'') in Milan. Yanbu ( ar, ينبع, lit=Spring, translit=Yanbu'), also known simply as Yambu or Yenbo, is a city in the Al Madinah Province of western Saudi Arabia. It is approximately 300 kilometers northwest of Jeddah (at ). The population is 222,360 (2020 census).
