Geological Formation
A geological formation, or simply formation, is a body of rock having a consistent set of physical characteristics ( lithology) that distinguishes it from adjacent bodies of rock, and which occupies a particular position in the layers of rock exposed in a geographical region (the stratigraphic column). Turtles are an order of reptiles known as Testudines, characterized by a special shell developed mainly from their ribs. Alectrosaurus
''Alectrosaurus'' (; meaning "alone lizard") is a genus of tyrannosauroid theropod dinosaur that lived in Asia during the Late Cretaceous period, about some 96 million years ago in what is now the Iren Dabasu Formation. It was a medium-sized, moderately-built, ground-dwelling, bipedal carnivore, estimated at with a body shape similar to its much larger advanced relative, ''Tyrannosaurus''. Trionyx
''Trionyx'' is a genus of softshell turtles belonging to the family Trionychidae. In the past many species in the family were classified in this genus, but today '' T. triunguis'', the African or Nile softshell turtle, is the only extant softshell still classified as ''Trionyx''. ''Adocus'' is an extinct genus of aquatic turtles belonging to the family Adocidae. ''Adocus'' was once considered to belong to the family Dermatemyidae. Description Species of the genus ''Adocus'' had flattened and smoothly contoured shells with horny sculptured plates. The shells could reach a length of about 80 cm.
