Yale Cellos
Yale Cellos is an ensemble at the Yale School of Music consisting of the School of Music's cello studio--roughly 15 cellists. The group was founded by the famed cello teacher Aldo Parisot, the former professor of cello at the School of Music for sixty years. Currently, the cellists study with Paul Watkins. Since its formation in 1983 the group has produced several CDs, one of which earned a Grammy nomination. Yale University is a private research university in New Haven, Connecticut. Agnès Vesterman
Agnès Vesterman is a French classical cellist. Life Vesterman studied the cello in Boulogne-Billancourt and then went to New York to study with Harvey Shapiro (musician), Harvey Shapiro. Back from the United States, she joined the Quatuor Arpeggione with whom she played thirteen years, from 1988 to 2001, all over the world. In 2006 she formed a duo with Garth Knox, violist and viola d'amore player. A second duo was created with cellist Patrick Langot. With the painter Étienne Yver, they create the duets "d'Yver" by Nicolas Bacri, Philippe Forget and Régis Campo. In March 2009, she recorded Philippe Forget's duets and suites for solo cello. Matt Brubeck
Charles Matthew "Matt" Brubeck (born May 9, 1961) is an American cellist, bassist, keyboardist, composer, and arranger. He is both a performer of classical music and jazz and rock. Early life and career Matt Brubeck was born in Norwalk, Connecticut. The youngest son of legendary jazz pianist Dave Brubeck, he started playing piano at the age of three. However, when his school orchestra needed a cello player, he took it up. He later studied under Aldo Parisot at the Yale School of Music, where he received a Master's degree in cello performance. In 1990 he issued a CD "Really", with David Widelock on Jazzpoint records. In the 1990s, Brubeck founded the Oranj Symphonette and released two albums on the Rykodisc label. He also performed with the Club Foot Orchestra in the mid-1990s. Maya Beiser (born 31 December 1963) is an American musician, cellist, performing artist and producer who lives in New York City. Beiser was raised on a kibbutz in Israel by her French mother and Argentine father, and graduated from Yale University School of Music. She has been described by the Boston Globe as "a force of nature", "a cello goddess" by ''The New Yorker'' and "the reigning queen of the avant-garde cello" by ''The Washington Post''. Bion Yu-Ting Tsang (traditional Chinese/simplified Chinese: 章雨亭; pinyin: Zhāng Yǔ-Tíng) (born May 4, 1967) is an American cellist and professor. Biography Bion Tsang was born in Lansing, Michigan to Chinese parents. His father, Paul Ja-Min Tsang (章哲民), received a PhD from Michigan State University in metallurgy and his mother, Helena Rosa Lit (列国梅), pursued a doctorate in political science. When Tsang was 6 weeks old, his family moved to Poughkeepsie, New York, where his father started a 30-year career as an engineer at IBM. Tsang began piano studies at age six and added cello a year later. Johann Sebastian Paetsch (born in Colorado Springs, U.S. on April 11, 1964) is an American cellist and musician. Early musical education Paetsch began his cello studies with his father, Günther Paetsch (who was also a cellist), at the age of 5, and gave his first recital when he was 6 years old. His extensive experience in chamber music began early in childhood with his large and talented family of 9. Tanya Anisimova (born February 15, 1966) is an American cello, cellist and composer of Russian descent. Tanya Anisimova was born in the Chechnya, Chechen city of Grozny into a family of scientists: her father Dr. Mikhail Anisimov is a well-known physicist. Her mother was a chemist and an accomplished piano player and singer who died in 1981. Tanya Anisimova became a naturalised American citizen in 1994. Tanya began to study cello at 7 with Zoia Kamisheva and gave her first public performance the same year. Jian Wang (cellist)
Jian Wang ( zh, 王健 ; born 1968 in Xi'an, China) is a Chinese cellist. Jian Wang began to study the cello with his father when he was four. While a student at the Shanghai Conservatoire, he was featured in the celebrated documentary film From Mao to Mozart: Isaac Stern in China. In 1981, at 12 years old, Jian made his professional debut playing the Saint-Saëns cello concerto with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra at the Shanghai Music Hall. In 1985, with Mr Stern's encouragement, he entered the Yale School of Music under a special programme where he studied with the renowned cellist Aldo Parisot.
