Yakatpura
Yakutpura (Urdu - ''یاقوت پورہ''; Telugu - ''యాకుత్పురా'') is a traditional and district of the Old City, Hyderabad in Telangana state, India. With a population of 6,335 inhabitants, the size of the area is about 0.37 square kilometers. Named by the Nizam of Hyderabad, the word ''Ya·kut'' (yä-koot), from Yakutpura, is derived from the Persian word ''Yakut'' meaning the precious stone "ruby." Hyderabad is known as the "City of Pearls". During the era of the 7th Nizam (Mir Osman Ali Khan), the Hyderabad State was a business market of gems and pearls. Yakutpura was one of the parts of the Nizam's State and hence its name was coined. A part of Yakutpura is also called Brahmin-wadi where Brahmins live. The Nizams were the rulers of Hyderabad from the 18th through the 20th century. Nizam of Hyderabad (Niẓām ul-Mulk, also known as Asaf Jah) was the title of the monarch of the Hyderabad State ( divided between the state of Telangana, Marathwada, Marathwada region of Maharashtra and Kalyana-Karnataka region of Karnataka). Osmania Hospital
Osmania General Hospital (OGH) is one of the oldest hospitals in India located at Afzal Gunj, Hyderabad and is named after its founder – Mir Osman Ali Khan, the last Nizam of Hyderabad. It is run by the Government of Telangana, and is one of the largest in the state. It was built at a construction cost of 2,00,00,000. Nizam's Museum or H.E.H Nizam's Museum is a museum located in Hyderabad at Purani Haveli, a palace of the erstwhile Nizams. This museum showcases the gifts that the last Nizam of Hyderabad State, Osman Ali Khan, Asaf Jah VII received on his silver jubilee celebrations. The museum is a repository mainly of souvenirs, gifts and mementos presented by dignitaries to the last Nizam on the occasion of the silver jubilee celebrations in 1936. Mecca Masjid
Makkah Masjid or Mecca Masjid, is a congregational mosque in Hyderabad, India. It is one of the largest mosques in India with a capacity of 10,000 people. The mosque was built during the 17th century, and is a state-protected monument. It serves as the primary mosque for the Old City of Hyderabad, and is located close to the historic landmarks of Charminar, Chowmahalla Palace and Laad Bazaar. Muhammad Qutb Shah, the sixth ruler of the Qutb Shahi dynasty, commissioned bricks to be made from the soil brought from Mecca, the holiest site of Islam, and used them in the construction of the central arch of the mosque, thus giving the mosque its name.
