Yadkin Township, Stokes County, North Carolina
Yadkin Township is one of nine townships in Stokes County, North Carolina, United States. The township had a population of 19,592 according to the 2000 census and is by the far the largest township by population in Stokes County. Geographically, Yadkin Township occupies in southwestern Stokes County and is also the largest township by land area in Stokes County. The township's western border is with Surry County and the southern border is with Forsyth County. The incorporated municipality of King is located here as well as parts of the Forsyth County town of Tobaccoville. Pinnacle, North Carolina
Pinnacle is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in southwestern Stokes County, North Carolina, United States, approximately SSE of the town of Pilot Mountain, between Pilot Mountain State Park and Hanging Rock State Park. As of March 2015, the exact population is 855. Demographics History The town was originally known as Culler, named for Emanuel W. Culler who owned the land on which a railroad station was built and served as the town's first mayor. The present name was adopted in 1894. Pinnacle was incorporated in 1901 but the charter was repealed in 1903. Some east of Pinnacle on State Route 1186 is the '' Rock House'', the remains of a massive four-story stone structure with three-foot-thick walls built in 1770 by Capt. Tobaccoville, North Carolina
Tobaccoville is a village in Forsyth and Stokes counties in the U.S. state of North Carolina. The population was 2,209 at the 2020 census. While a Tobaccoville post office was established in 1879, the village was not incorporated until 1991, as a defense against forced annexation of the area by the nearby city of King. History The Old Richmond Schoolhouse and Gymnasium was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009. Geography Tobaccoville is located in northwestern Forsyth County. King is a city in Stokes and Forsyth counties, North Carolina, United States. The population was 7,096 at the 2020 census. King is part of the Piedmont Triad metropolitan area, located 15 miles northwest of Winston-Salem. The city has two large public parks: Recreation Acres and Central Park. Geography King is located in southern Stokes County, with parts of the city limits extending south into Forsyth County.
