Tin Maung
''A1'' Tin Maung ( my, တင်မောင် ; 7 August 1908 – 4 October 2000) was a two-time Myanmar Academy Award, Burmese Academy Award-winning film actor, director and producer. Biography Tin Maung was born in Pyay, a small town in Lower Burma during the British colonial rule. The youngest brother of Nyi Pu, a famous Burmese actor of early Cinema of Burma, Burmese cinema, Tin Maung began his film career at age 10, in 1923, appearing in ''Taw Myaing Zon Ga Lwan Aung Phan''. In 1934, while enrolled in Rangoon University, Tin Maung joined the A1 Film Company–the preeminent film studio of the time to appear in the film ''Mya Ganaing''. He quickly became known as A1 Tin Maung, one of the studio's stable of stars. Shwe U Daung
Shwe U Daung (24 October 1889—10 August 1973) was a Burmese writer, translator and editor. He is known for creating the character "Detective U San Shar," considered the Burmese equivalent of Sherlock Holmes. He received many awards including the Sarpay Beikman awards. Early life and education Shwe U Daung was born Pe Thein on 24 October 1889 in the Shwebo District, British rule in Burma, British Burma (now Myanmar). His father, U Ayar, was a British citizen, and his mother was Daw Shwe. He was the third of five siblings. Shwe U Daung attended the Buddhist School in Mandalay and later transferred to the Monastery of Mandalay and ABM school. In 1908, after passing the entrance exam at the University of Calcutta, he worked as a teacher at the Mandalay Buddhist school and the ABM school. Kyi Kyi Htay ( my, ကြည်ကြည်ဌေး, ; 19 March 1924 – 4 March 2000) was the first winning actress of the Myanmar Academy Award for the Best Female Artiste Award (now Best Actress Award) in 1952. Being a versatile actress in the golden Burmese film world, she was awarded the title ''Wunna Kyawhtin'' by the government. Early life Kyi Kyi Htay was born in a small town of Letbadan in Bago Division in Lower Burma to U Po Yin and Daw Ohn Kywe. She was the youngest among five siblings. Her original name was Ma Thein Kyin. Career Kyi Kyi Htay took part in Burmese traditional opera, Zat Thabin, since her childhood and became famous under the name Aung Mya Kyin, Auk Chin Ma and Marla Yi. She crossed over to films in 1952, and won her first Burmese Academy Award with her debut film Chit Thet-Wai. She won three more Academy Awards in 1956, 1970 and 1978. Shwe Pyi Aye ( my, ရွှေပြည်အေး; born Tin Maung Aye 13 February 1909 – 22 October 1977) was a Burmese musician and composer. Biography Shwe Pyi Aye was born in Yangon in Burma during British rule on 13 February 1909 to his father, the amateur pianist U Nu and his mother, Daw Hlaing. He was the fourth son of five siblings. At the age of five, he started learning the basics of rhythm from his uncle, a Burmese harp artist. At the age of 8 he was able to play and sing by himself. At the age of 10, he had mastered the violin. Growing up with violinists Nyein, U Ba Thwin, and Ko Ba Yee's mastered the violin while still young. He became a violinist by the musical direction of violinist U Ba Latt and Ko Ba Yee. He became proficient in the piano under the musical direction of U Thar Din and became known as pianist Maung Aye in the 1930s.
