Tin Maung
''A1'' Tin Maung ( my, တင်မောင် ; 7 August 1908 – 4 October 2000) was a two-time Myanmar Academy Award, Burmese Academy Award-winning film actor, director and producer. Biography Tin Maung was born in Pyay, a small town in Lower Burma during the British colonial rule. The youngest brother of Nyi Pu, a famous Burmese actor of early Cinema of Burma, Burmese cinema, Tin Maung began his film career at age 10, in 1923, appearing in ''Taw Myaing Zon Ga Lwan Aung Phan''. In 1934, while enrolled in Rangoon University, Tin Maung joined the A1 Film Company–the preeminent film studio of the time to appear in the film ''Mya Ganaing''. He quickly became known as A1 Tin Maung, one of the studio's stable of stars. In 1937, Tin Maung directed ''Aung Thabyay'' about the final days of King Thibaw Min, Thibaw, Burma's last monarch, who died an embittered man in exile in India. Pyay
Pyay (, ; mnw, ပြန် , ; also known as Prome and Pyè) is principal town of Pyay Township in the Bago Region in Myanmar. Pyay is located on the bank of the Irrawaddy River, north-west of Yangon. It is an important trade center for the Ayeyarwady Delta, Central and Upper Myanmar and the Rakhine (Arakan) State. The British Irrawaddy Flotilla Company established the current town in the late 19th century on the Irrawaddy as a transshipment point for cargo between Upper and Lower Burma. The English novelist Jane Austen's brother Rear Admiral Charles Austen died here in 1852. The district of Pyay encompasses the valley of the Irrawaddy, located between Thayet, Hinthada and Tharrawaddy districts. Along the western side of Pyay District are the Arakan Mountains and along the eastern side are the Pegu Range. Pyay District's main towns are Pyay, Shwetaung, and Paungde.
