Yaakov Agmon
Yaakov Agmon ( he, יעקב אגמון; June 24, 1929 – December 16, 2020) was an Israeli theater producer, manager, and director. Biography Yaakov Agmon grew up in Tel Aviv, and was a member of the Hashomer Hatzair youth movement. He later moved to Kibbutz Harel, where he was involved with the planning and organization of events for the kibbutz movement. He was married to the actress Gila Almagor. Agmon died from pneumonia in the Sheba Medical Center in Ramat Gan on December 16, 2020 at the age of 91. Theater and media career Between 1956-1958, Agmon served as the director of the youth section in the United Jewish Appeal and also as a columnist and the secretary of the Rimon weekly publication. In 1958, after a reorganization of the Cameri Theatre, Agmon was appointed general director, a post he held for the next four years. Sokołów Podlaski
Sokołów Podlaski is a town in Poland, in Masovian Voivodeship, about east of Warsaw. The town lies on the Cetynia river, in the historical region of Podlachia and is the capital of Sokołów County. The first settlement was in the 6th century and the town received its charter in 1424. Population in 2004 was 18,434 (18,481 in 2010 and 18,720 in 2013). Beit Lessin Theater
Beit Lessin Theater ( he, תיאטרון בית ליסין, translit: ''Teatron Bet Lessin'') is a theater in Tel Aviv, Israel. History The theater was established in 1980 by Yaakov Agmon for the Histadrut. Over the years the theater has shown over a thousand contemporary American and European plays, as well as original productions. In 1993, Zippi Pines started managing the theater. It was separated from the Histadrut and started showing mostly original Israeli material reflecting the political and social situation in Israel. In 2003, the theater moved from Lessin House to the old residence of the Cameri Theater after it was remodeled. This venue having more seats allowed larger and more expensive plays to be produced, such as ''Chicago'' and ''Guys and Dolls''. Habima Theatre
The Habima Theatre ( he, תיאטרון הבימה ''Te'atron HaBima'', lit. "The Stage Theatre") is the List of national theatres, national theatre of Israel and one of the first Hebrew language theatres. It is located in Habima Square in the center of Tel Aviv. History Habima was founded by in Białystok (then in Grodno Governorate, Russian Empire) in 1912. Menahem Gnessin was one of its cofounders and early actors. Because its performances were in Hebrew, invoked the Jewish folk tradition, and dealt with issues of the Jewish people, soon it was banned by Russian authorities, and the theatre troupe was forced to become a travelling one.
