Llanelltyd ( cy, Llanelltyd) is a small village and community in Gwynedd, to the northwest of Dolgellau. The community population taken at the 2011 Census was 514, 57.4% of which speak Welsh. It is home to the 12th-century Cymer Abbey, a grade I listed building. St Illtyd's church, one of the oldest parish churches in Wales, is a grade II* listed building. Ganllwyd
Ganllwyd is a small village and community in southern Gwynedd, Wales. It lies in the Snowdonia National Park to the north of Dolgellau. A470 passes through it. The Community population taken at the 2011 Census was 179. Geography The village, which lies where the old Roman road used to ford the River Eden just before it joins with the rivers Mawddach and River Gamlan has 3 large waterfalls and many smaller ones all within Coed y Brenin (the forest of the king). Features The village includes Dolmelynllyn Hall (owned by the National Trust), and the area is also referred to as the Dolmelynllyn estate. One author suggests an Arthurian link to the village but there is no other corroboration. The village is now surrounded by Forestry Commission and National Trust parkland of conifers and oaks. Diffwys is a mountain in Snowdonia, Wales, near Barmouth and forms part of the Rhinogydd. On the north side is an exposure of the Caerdion Syncline. It is technically a subsidiary summit of Y Llethr, missing Marilyn status by 2m. It is therefore a sub Marilyn (hill), Marilyn. The summit has a trig point. Coed-y-Brenin
Coed y Brenin (Welsh for ''King's Forest'') is a forest in the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales near Dolgellau at . It is popular for its mountain bike trails and hiking paths. It has several man-made mountain bike singletrack courses in a woodland setting, varying in length from 12 to 38 km (7 to 23 mi), and one dual slalom course. The site is owned and operated by Natural Resources Wales, and covers an area of some 9,000 acres (36 km²) around the valleys of the rivers Mawddach, Eden, Gain and Wen. There is no charge for using the trails, but there is a charge for the car park at Coed y Brenin Visitor Centre. This costs £1 for 1 hour, £3 for 3 hours and £5 for all day parking. All of the proceeds go towards the maintenance and improvement of the forest trails. Y Llethr is the highest mountain in the Rhinogydd range of Snowdonia, in north Wales. The summit consists of a flat grassy top marked only by a small cairn. The summit is more in keeping with its southern flanks than its rugged northern approach. The shortest route to the summit goes from the valley of Cwm Nantcol in the west, either directly or via Bwlch Drws Ardudwy and over the mountain of Rhinog Fach.
