Xinban Special District
Xinban Special District ( zh, 新板特區), also known as New Banqiao Station Special Zone, is located in Banqiao District, New Taipei, Taiwan. The total area of Xinban Special District is 54 hectares. It was designed in the 1990s and developed from the 2000s onward, when New Taipei was still Taipei County. Xinban Special District is the prime central business district, administration center, shopping center, and transport hub of New Taipei City. Important infrastructure, such as Banqiao station, New Taipei City Hall, New Taipei Citizen Square and NTPC Banqiao Bus Station, is located within this area. Historical Development The old Banqiao Station of the Taiwan Railway was built in 1952 near the Fuzhong metro station. Tamsui River
The Tamsui River (alternatively Danshui River, ) is third longest river in Taiwan after Zhuoshui River and Gaoping River, with a total length of , flowing through Hsinchu County, Taoyuan, Taipei and New Taipei City. It is located in northern part of the island. Geography The Tamsui River begins at the confluence of Xindian River and Dahan River at the western boundary of Taipei and New Taipei City, just north of Banqiao District, and flows northward and northwestward, passing the eponymous Tamsui District, then emptying into the Taiwan Strait. Circular Line (Taipei Metro)
The Circular or Yellow line (code Y) () is a metro line operated by Taipei Metro. The first phase of the project consists of the section from to and is approximately long with 14 stations. This initial section was opened on 31 January 2020. Hitachi Rail Italy supplied 17 sets of 4-car driverless medium-capacity trains for the line. Bannan Line
The Bannan or Blue line (code BL) is a metro line of Taipei Metro in Taipei, Taiwan, with a total of 23 stations serving the districts of Nangang, Xinyi, Daan, Zhongshan, Wanhua, Banqiao and Tucheng. The Bridge Upto Zenith () is a complex of four residential skyscrapers completed in 2012 and located in Banqiao District, New Taipei City, Taiwan. Mega City (shopping Mall)
Mega City () is a shopping mall located in Xinban Special District of Banqiao District, New Taipei, Taiwan that opened on January 5, 2012. The mall is a part of a joint development complex along with Far Eastern Mega Tower and both are owned and operated by the Far Eastern Group. With a total floor area of and 11 floors above ground and 4 floors below ground, it is the largest shopping center in New Taipei when it opened. Jointly designed by Benoy and Kisho Kurokawa, the mall started construction in 2008. Main core stores of the mall include Vieshow Cinemas, citysuper, Uniqlo, Gap, Nike and various other high end brands and themed restaurants. The Taiwan Power Company (, Taipower; ) is a state-owned electric power industry providing electricity to Taiwan and off-shore islands of the Republic of China. History Taipower was established on 1 May 1946. Its origins can be traced to 1919 when Taiwan Power was founded during Japanese colonial rule.
