Xie Xuren
Xie Xuren (; born October 1947) is a Chinese politician, serving since 2013 as the Chair of the National Council for Social Security Fund. Previously he served as Minister of Finance of People's Republic of China, and Director-General of the State Administration of Taxation. He was also a member of the 17th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party. Biography Xie was born in 1947 in Ningbo, Zhejiang province. Xie first worked for Ningbo Zhenhai Machinery Factory. At beginning, Xie was in charge of the factory's general facilities, but later he was promoted to its vice-president. Xie joined the Chinese Communist Party in 1980. From September 1981 to January 1984, Xie studied at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou and majored in industrial finance management. Soon after graduation, Xie joined local government of Yuyao, a county (currently a city) of Ningbo, and he was the subprefect of Yuyao. Xie (; ) is a Chinese-language surname. lt is usually romanized as "Hsieh" in Taiwan. It is estimated that there are more than ten million people with this surname, the majority of whom live in Taiwan, Southern China, South East Asia, America, Europe and Africa. Xiao Jie (; born June 1957) is a Chinese politician and an important political aide of Premier Li Keqiang. He is serving as the State Councilor and the Secretary General of the State Council. Xiao served as the Minister of Finance from November 2016 to March 2018. He previously served as Deputy Secretary-General of the State Council and chief of staff of Premier Li Keqiang, and the deputy director of the State Council Leading Group for the Nationwide Economy Census. The 2008–09 Chinese economic stimulus plan () is a RMB¥ 4 trillion (US$586 billion) stimulus package announced by the State Council of the People's Republic of China on 9 November 2008 as an attempt to minimize the impact of the financial crisis of 2007–2008 on the economy of China. Critics of China's stimulus package have blamed it for causing a surge in Chinese debt since 2009, particularly among local governments and state-owned enterprises. The economic stimulus plan was seen as a success and while China's economic growth dipped sharply to almost 6% during 4Q 2008 and 1Q 2009 it had recovered to over 8% in Q2 2009 and over 10% in Q3 2009.
