Xhavit Haliti
Xhavit Haliti (born 8 March 1956 in Novo Selo, Peć, Kosovo) is a Kosovo-Albanian politician, philosopher, linguist and one of the founders of the Kosovo Liberation Army. Early life and education Haliti was born near the city of Peja, where he finished elementary school and high school. He later became the Faculty of Philology in trades literature at the University of Pristina and joined the group known as Democratic Progress of Kosovo as well as the People's Movement of Kosovo. Later, he was investigated for crimes as a part of the KLA. Career Haliti's career began in 1986 when he opposed the Serbian regime in Kosovo by taking part in the communist group called the Resistance Front, which supplied the guerrillas forces in Kosovo with weapons. For this, he was put under surveillance by the Yugoslavian secret police UDBA and was detained for activities related to separatist activities in Yugoslavia. Jakup Krasniqi
Jakup Krasniqi (born 1 January 1951) is a Kosovo-Albanian politician and former acting President of Kosovo. He is former Chairman of the Assembly of Kosovo. In November 2020 he was arrested for charges of crimes against humanity and war crime filed before the Kosovo Specialist Chambers. Early life Jakup Krasniqi was born near Glogovac, Kosovo to Albanian parents. He finished elementary school in his birthplace, Negroc, in 1965 while he finished high school in Prishtina in 1971. Hashim Thaçi
Hashim Thaçi (; born 24 April 1968) is a Kosovar Albanian politician who was the president of Kosovo from April 2016 until his resignation on 5 November 2020 to face a war crimes tribunal. He was the first prime minister of Kosovo and the Foreign minister and deputy prime minister in the new cabinet led by Isa Mustafa, which assumed office on 12 December 2014. Thaçi is from the region of Drenica in Kosovo, which is where the KLA originated. He studied philosophy in Prishtina before moving to Switzerland, where he joined the Kosovo Liberation Army in 1993. He rose through the ranks of the KLA to become leader of the most powerful faction by 1999, during the Rambouillet negotiations. He then joined the interim Kosovo administration after the war. Adem Grabovci
Adem Grabovci (born 9 April 1960) is a Kosovan politician and a secretary of the Democratic Party of Kosovo. Early activity Adem Grabovci was born in the village of Staraduran, Pejë. He was a political prisoner from 1984 to 1989 and pioneered the reconciliation of blood feuds in 1990. After fleeing to Switzerland, he served as chairman of the People's Movement of Kosovo branch in Switzerland and was a member of the Popular Movement for the diaspora.
