Xanthi Football Club ( el, Α.Ο. Ξάνθη Π.Α.Ε.) is a Greek professional Association football, football club based in Xanthi, Western Thrace and plays at Xanthi FC Arena. The club resigned from the Super League Greece 2, Super League 2 due to financial issues. Founded in 1967, Xanthi is well set up in terms of their financial support and youth setup. Xanthi participated in the UEFA Europa League, UEFA Cup / Europa League in 2001-02 UEFA Cup, 2001–02, 2005-06 UEFA Cup, 2005–06, 2006-07 UEFA Cup, 2006–07 and 2013–14 UEFA Europa League, 2013–14 seasons. Xanthi FC Arena
Xanthi FC Arena is a football ground built by Xanthi F.C. in Xanthi, Thrace, Greece. It was built over the course of ten months in 2004. It holds up to 7,244 spectators, with 80% of the seats under the roof. The stadium was built because of a disagreement between then FC Skoda Xanthi and the amateur club AO Xanthi. It is situated in an area where the club had built its training facilities (Xanthi Athletic Center). The stadium was officially inaugurated by the Brazilian legend Pelé on 12 May 2005. Capacity The stadium's official capacity is 7,244 (all seated). It only has three stands, the fourth was promised but this never materialised, so there are boards behind the goal at one end. Marcelo Veridiano (; born June 30, 1966) is a former Brazilian footballer. Club career His professional career started at 1986 with São Paulo.
